Steve's Dakota Grill — Restaurant in Marion Township

My fiancé took me last night to Steve Dakota’s Grill in Marion for my birthday yesterday. Maybe I was just so thrown off by the new location that I really didn’t enjoy our meal and experience. The new location is nothing like the original one, and I had no idea that they changed. The ambiance is completely different... I felt like I was in a more commercial and lower scale place. I really missed the romance and relaxing atmosphere that the other one had. The decor was scaled down, the wooden features just looked too plain. I was just so stunned that I immediately knew I wasn’t going to have the relaxing birthday dinner I had hoped for aft a really long month.

We were sat really close to the kitchen and could see every meal that came out, we’re bumped into a few times, and had the wonderful free entertainment of servers griping and dramas. Our steaks were fatty and chewy, overcooked, and not flavorful. Half of our rolls were hard and you could tell they threw some fresh ones on top of old ones.

Our table kept sliding around, but the chairs wouldn’t move without a lot of force. The bathroom was a little run down, which was shocking for it being a new location.

At least our server was pleasant, but wasn’t completely as attentive as we’ve had before.

We won’t be back to this location. We’ll stick with the Ontario location. It was such a huge disappointment. We should have left and found something different when my first instinct told me I wasn’t going to enjoy...

This steakhouse has been in Marion for many years. Very nice hunter lodge decor with an open fireplace in the middle. On a recent visit we ordered a beef Mediterranean wrap and fried fish plate. The complimentary rolls come with either regular butter or maple butter. Service is always enjoyable. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. Update Father's day 2025 Just ate Father's day dinner and I am highly disappointed. There were 8 of us since not all the family could make it. I sit down and feel a water drop on my arm. I look up and see a lot of condensation on the air vent. I said something to a wait staffer and he says I'll tell the manager. Five minutes go by, with multiple waters drops landinf on me, and our server comes to the table. I asked her if she was aware of water coming from the air vents. She tells me the manager isn't sure what to do because all the air vents have condensation. I had to be careful so as to not have water drop into my drink, bread, or appetizer. Once main arrived I had to put my plate at least 1.5 feet from the edge and lean over to eat, so again, no water would drip onto my food but on my back, shoulder, and head. At no time did a manager come to our table nor were we given a discount on our $189 bill. Needless to say, Steve's Dakota Grill has lost...

Decided stop by and have us a steak tonight we haven't been out there since they moved to there new location..was pretty busy we waited about 30 minutes before we were seated typical for most places on a SAT evening...Our waiter Brandon was very nice and took our order served us our drinks and our appetizer..About 30 minutes later he came over and apologized for the wait on our steaks...We did get our meal an hour later after being seated..Our steaks we ordered we're very very under cooked to the point it looked like they had been thrown on grill and flipped then served...after waiting an hour for our meal we could only imagine how long it would take to have them cooked again..so we sucked it up ate our meal and spoke to the manager about our extremely dissatisfied experience...She agreed and gave us $5 off our $75. meal ticket!!! I didn't feel like bailing my wife out of jail because she was so PO so I just paid the bill and left...That's the last penny they will ever get out of me..The manager could have made in right seeing that we didn't even eat our steak but instead she gave us $5 off and acted like we were a big pain in her butt...So enjoy my $70 because you just lost a customer and received an honest ONE...
