Within the last year Tomaso's had a change of ownership and it has truly gone downhill since then. We used to go in almost once a week to grab pizza by the slice for lunch but we have completely stopped now. I'm the type of person that prefers plain cheese pizza and I must not be alone because before the new ownership they had a hard time keeping up with people wanting cheese, but one time I asked them if they had cheese after the change and I was told they "Can't cater to everyone's taste." Since when is cheese so insane a request? Another time two of my friends went in and ordered a pizza they were told it would be 40 minutes! They were the only customers in the place for that entire 40 minutes and they watched as the employee didn't even start working on their pizza until nearly 20 minutes had passed. Read moreI'll start by saying the pizza was great. Sliced into squares, which is not my fav, but great taste. Not better or worse than competitors though. And more expensive. Not much atmosphere. No pop machine, so no free refills, which is a major minus for me. Overall it reminded me of a place like Freddy's or Five Guys - good food but not the kind of place where one is encouraged to hang out. The staff is friendly but the atmosphere is not the warm, dine-in type that I prefer. Also (and this is not Tomaso's fault and did not factor into my rating but I'll mention it anyway) I'm not a fan of gentrified...

The guy that answered the phone was particularly courteous, friendly, professional and thorough. Unfortunately the food was just not up to par.
My wife and I ordered a New York style pizza w/ black olives, mushrooms and jalapeños. The recipe or perhaps the cook has clearly never had authentic NYC pizza. The crust was thin, but it lacked any sort of texture. NYC pizza dough has a delicious airy crust, it's not just flat like a cracker.
If you're looking for a be better rendition of NYC pizza, you'd be better off across the street at Urban Pie where you'll pay about $10 rather than a steep $25...
