First of all I want to say that we love the food at Main Street Cafe. My cinnamon raisin french toast was amazing as usual and the grandkids loved their pancakes! This review has nothing to do with the food that we were served. We have been to the cafe many times in the past, and we were exited to bring 3 grand boys in there on our morning outing. What a big disappointment with how we were treated. We came in with 3 hungry children, seated ourselves at a booth which was fine and then no one was in a hurry to approach our table, even to see if we wanted coffee. I tried to get a server’s attention just to ask a question and we were ignored. (One server did ask us if we wanted to change tables but the booth is much better for young boys so they don’t get down off the chairs or tip the chairs) The cafe was not crowded at all at that time. A young server then proceeded to wait on a party of two that came in after us at the table right beside us. He brought their utensils and I believe at least got their drink order. Finally we got a server and she was unpleasant the whole time. Seemed like she couldn’t hear me and was very unpleasant all around when we asked for anything. Usually we are asked if we need anything else or more coffee etc. It was a real struggle to get anyone’s attention to ask for anything! What a bad feeling it was at the end, when we were excited to come in there with the grandkids. Also we are great tippers and always mannerly and friendly to servers wherever we go. We realize how hard they work and try to be respectful customers. Many times in the past we have spoken with the owner and another server who was always friendly, (this was awhile ago). Obviously the server didn’t care about getting a good tip. So today this was a really disappointing...
Read moreI've updated this because some things on their menu are great. The fried egg sandwiches on an english muffin and sausage biscuits are my favorite. But the last 3 times I've ordered, my orders have been wrong. The first time it was wrong, my fried egg sandwich had nothing on it when I specified onion, mayo, and cheese. The time after that I ordered some things and then a side of a homefries, but never got them. And this last time being the third time in a row my order has been wrong, I asked for well done poached eggs on my biscuits and gravy, they weren't well done. This last time I drove back, the other times I threw my sandwich in the trash and just let the side of homefries slide. Honestly, their food has grown on me, but I'm not happy with my order being messed up every single time. I'd say if you're getting takeout like me, check it before you leave so you dont have to come back. I also wanted to add, I stopped to dine in for breakfast one time during the pandemic and I got a fried egg sandwich on an english muffin. The bread looked like it had mold on it and when I inquired what might the green on my bread be, the lady gave me the biggest attitude and essentially threw a tantrum and told me it was "a piece from an onion." Mind you, I'm pregnant, so all of these questions are just for the health and safety of me and my unborn baby. So honestly, I can't say after all of these mishaps, that I even want to continue eating here...
Read moreI got a cup of turkey soup and a cheeseburger and fries. The turkey soup was okay, the flavor was a little confusing. It seemed like the person making it wasn't quite sure what direction they wanted to go with it; like a traditional chicken soup or more of an Italian wedding soup. It landed somewhere in the middle. But, it was hearty and clearly homemade. My cheeseburger was very attractive and a healthy handful. Lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. Bun was nice. The burger itself was cooked perfectly. My only comment would be that I don't think that the meat was seasoned at all. The fries were absolutely perfect. They were shoestring style, golden and fried beautifully. The issue that would make me hesitant to return was the server's response to my food allergy. Each time I stressed that being exposed to the item I am allergic to would end in my having anaphylaxis, the server said, "Got it, no (name of food)." That REALLY didn't make me confident that the server understood what a food allergy is or that my eating something I am allergic to could end...
