There is a big misconception floating around. "Steakburgers" are not regular "Hamburgers". Steakburgers are actually made of ground up premium cuts of steak where hamburger is made of ground chuck. Now that we have that out of the way let's dive in.
The restaurant was as welcoming and inviting as you would expect from any $10 a meal fast casual restaurant. The employees were accurate quick and polite. The restuarant was clean and tidy dispite feeling 10 years old. It's difficult to put a finger on but the whole reaturant felt like it needed a cup of coffee. The furniture was slightly faded, stuff behind the counter was worn out and the soda machine was very sad. Their array of Pepsi products was not displayed well; further, the machine looked like the type to have mold growing in the nozzles. I am confident that its clean, my Pepsi tastes as it should, but it was a tired looking machine.
I ordered a Bacon Double Cheeseburger Meal with a Vanella Malt and a Pepsi. The malt was great! Extra points for a 50cal straw! (big straw - think bubble tea) The bun was thick, soft and toasted with butter, the bacon was well distributed with an ample serving, all was well here and as to be expected. Now the parties... Let us dwell on these succulent meat disks of joy for just a tender moment. They had a crispyness on the outer ring with a soft center that allows the mouth to explore the separate experiences that they offer. The burger was not seasoned save for salt and pepper but that was all that is realy nessicary. Just like a good steak, they dont ruin these burgers with too much pizzazz. Just salt and just pepper. When you combine the patties with the good fixings around them and add a generous portion of shoestring fries you get a Freddy's burger, and as I've learnt this evening, a Freddie's burger is certainly one...
Read moreI never actually have been in Freddie's just through the drive through. They truly have the best burgers in the area I don't know how long they've been there but this 2023 smer is the first time I ever tried them. To think all those years I wasted eating McDonald's and Burger King! I wish I had known what I was missing I'll never eat fast food from the golden mile again... I'm driving to broomall! There was only one thing I could possibly say negatively about the service. The last time I went through I asked the girl for a piece of the key lime pie. She charged me for the whole pie! When I exclaimed omgoodness how much does that sliver of pie cost? It better be the best freakin pie I ever ate! Sh replies, OH you wanted a piece of pie? I charged you for the whole pie! She fixed it, brings the price down 5 bucks but then she started handing me the food! First the drink, the bag of burgers and Fry's (I think there were Fry's) then she hands me what I think is a handful of napkins but as I bring it through the window it squishes in my hand... I bring it closer to see what it was and all these crumbs go all over my beige Buick Lacern and I MEAN EVERYWHERE! MOW I HAVE TO GET MY CAR DETAILED BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A CORDLESS VACUUM AND I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO AN OUTLET WHERE I LIVE AND THE PIE PART SQUISHED OUT TOO AND I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO RUNNING WATER OUTSIDE AND CANT CARRY THE BUCKET UP AND DOWN SO BASICALLY THAT PIECE OF KEY LIME PIE IS COSTING ME OVER 200$ 😭. Technically it's not her fault, this poor thing had no clue what she was doing and shouldn't have been left alone to serve customers by herself! Obviously! Except for the one service glitch I had, you most likely won't! I never had any...
Read moreI passed the Linden NJ location but never stopped in. This Broomall PA is close to me and I finally gave it a try. The smashed burger style is new to me and it might will take some getting used to. The burger I tried was the signature Patty Melt, and two things about it was certainly unique. Not many burger joints offer grilled onions. I think that made it for me, but also, the Patty Melt here came on toasted rye bread! That added a taste profile that made this a sandwich I have to try again soon! I also had to try their hot dog, with only mustard and sauerkraut. I must say, the uniqueness of the burger was balanced somewhat by the plain-ness of the dog.
There are other toppings to choose from but the dog itself did not seem seared on a flat top grill, or if so, not long enough. It was that poached quality as though it was boiled. I also had the onion rings instead of fries and though I appreciate the whole onion instead of the diced variety, the batter was a tad thick, even bread-like on some bites. I'm glad the person on the drive thru was helpful because originally, I had ordered the California burger, seeing the lettuce and tomato pictured. They advised me that it comes with thousand island sauce. I guess that explains the "California" in the title. I passed on that. My Patty Melt burger seemed to have a pronounced salty kick to it, perhaps it was in the grilled onions? I only noticed it after I was well into the meal, and it wasn't a deal breaker. If they sprinkle the meat with salt as it's grilled, they may not really have to.
I want another crack at the burger, perhaps another variety, and take a taste of their custard on my next trip. It does deserve a...
