This is a letter I sent them about three different times I went to this location. All other locations I received good service at Applebee's. Don't Waste your time at this one. This should explain what happened
first incident 2/10/2016 I had a curb side order for my oldest boy birthday, because he was at play practice in Marshall. I had dropped him of after practice at the grocery store to get a few items while i picked him up a surprise dinner. There was a snow store. I arrived five minutes after pick up time.Had to call inside to get anyone to come out and when they did they went inside and fifteen minutes later came out with the order. It was so long my boy called and asked where i was because he thought something happened. When i finally got home, we opened the food and it was cold the steak was raw not medium well and the cheese topping on the steak was melted away or nonexistent. and the sides were wrong. I took this as a bad day.
Second Time 2/18/16 I arrived with my family before my sons play. We got in and were seated at a table I asked for a high chair for my youngest daughter. I asked five more times before I got one. Then had a small argument, on why i couldn't put the high chair at the end of the table. He was worried that the server would have trouble getting are dinner plates to us if we did. Both my girls wanted to sit by their mom that they dont get to see much since she works nights. I finally just put the highchair at the end of the table and put my kid in and ignored him. This is the first time I have ever seen this as a problem and it wasn't a problem this time either. Your waitress was the second worse waitress I have ever had serve me. Even though I gave myself plenty of time to before the play we were running close. also two tables near us were served before us. I,m guess either had a different waitress or pay back over the high chair. Also my steak was not cooked right again but did not send it back because I did not have time and if they hadn't spit on it already they would have then.
Third time 3/11/2016 Its my daughters birthday. She is six with cerebral palsy. We took her to see Zootopia in Marshall because Battle Creek theater is being remodeled. I was originally going to take here to the Old Country Kitchen, but my wife called to see if they do singing for birthdays. They did not. So we asked her and she said Applebee's was where she wanted to go. She did not know about the singing that was just me and mom wanting. We gave her the choice because we didn't want to go to Applebee's. Let me make this clear, WE ONLY WENT THERE BECAUSE SHE WOULD GET SUNG TOO!!!! We arrived we got to our table and told the waitress that it was her birthday. We got our food and they forgot a side. Also a little slow again. And then it got worst. I mention the birthday again. She said she was and was going to bring out a brownie. I paid the bill which I noticed I was being charged for the brownie which wasn't a big deal. We were on a time limit for this because of the movie. I waited for another ten minutes after we finished waiting and paid the bill before we just walked out. I'm glad we did not tell here about the brownie or the singing. Also Brownies are her favorite. Let me tell you how she acts. I would guarantee she would have been jumping for joy and giggling with the biggest smile on her face for the 30 seconds of time it would have taken to do this and she would have told them "this is the best day ever". So we left without the brownie I paid for so we could make the movie. Guess it was not important since you had my money. Lucky for us, she still said "This was the best day ever"...
Read moreThis was my family's first time at this Applebee's, and we won't be back.
When you first walk in, the foyer smells terrible, like old grease and body odor. We should have left then.
Ordering went smoothly enough, but I should have been tipped off when the server was opting to go off of memory that we were in for some trouble (I get it... I used to he able to take orders from memory, too. But not everyone can do it and be accurate).
Prior to food being brought out, I'd asked for a drink. The apps came out and no drink. Then the food came, and the server said she'd forgotten to enter my meal sigh but whatever. When she brought me meal (everyone else was finishing up their's) , I asked about the drink. I also had to ask for my sauce she forgot. When she brought the bill, I asked for the drink AGAIN. To go. She delivered.
The food was hit or miss. My son loved his chicken sandwich. The pretzels looked overdone, but were actually delicious. That's where the positive comments end. The soup was not hot, the breadsticks were not melted (they were not cold, but not gooey at all. People that love their mozzarella sticks know what I mean), and the waffle fries no bacon had CLEARLY had bacon that was later taken off and covered with a couple of extra fries.
I try to be as positive with all reviews as possible, and give places the benefit of the doubt. This place was pretty bad, tho. Which is unfortunate, as we meet my son's dad in Marshall throughout the year, and dine out every time. We'll stick with other...
Read moreHave you found it hard to find a fine dining experience in Marshall? Well look no further. A few days ago I stumbled upon the unsuspecting Applebees on Michigan ave simply to satisfy my hunger. Upon entry i was met at the door. Even now it’s hard to write about without a flood of emotions.Their employee, Jack hardy, met me with a glass of champagne, a moist towelette, a rose, and a smile. He then brought me to my table. On the way through the restaurant a women pushed her chair back unexpectedly, causing me to trip but that didn’t matter. I closed my eyes in anticipation, knowing the ground grew closer. A second went by and then I realized the ground was never touched. I opened my eyes and saw Jack holding me. Jacks inviting presence immediately solidified this restaurant as my new favorite. I was only driving through Marshall on this day as I live in Battle Creek but I am now moving. Jack and the team at Applebees have exactly what I’ve been missing. I don’t know if Jack is the manager yet but I suspect he’s on the way. Just make sure we get to see him still when he’s running operations from the back. Thank you so much Applebees and...
