To my disappointment my family and I didn’t have the experience that we were looking for. I made the reservation on a Wednesday for my husband’s and I event on Saturday. I was sent another confirmation on Friday for 7:30pm, I confirmed. Now, the actual day of our event my husband and I arrived at 7:12-7:15 PM. (Early enough to receive our guest at the restaurant). When we walked in I preceded to the hostess counter and gave my name and I was verified. The male hostess says, let check to see if they have your table ready. We say ok, and wait in the lobby. Meanwhile, other people are coming in and being seated ( People with smaller parties, like couples or a party of three). Then, a party of seven comes in around 7::25-7:30ish giving their reservation name and time for 7:00PM. Immediately, the hostess that was in front verified them and asked them to follow her. Other smaller parties are coming in to inquire about availability and our host who was checking on our table finally back to the front, but doesn’t say anything to us about what’s going with our table. So, my husband inquires and at the time I see our guest approaching the restaurant. The hostess tells my husband it shouldn’t be no more than ten minutes ( it’s 7:50 or 7:45 PM). At this point I’m thinking this is a bust and where can we go at this late hour. I also let my guest know if we don’t get a table in the next few minutes we’re all leaving. The next five minutes were being seated and it keeps going from bad to worse. Drinks were ordered while we discussed what we each wanted order. After the drinks were brought to table, she didn’t come back to the table for about for all most ten minutes. When she does, we give our orders and they eventually come. I ordered pasta with a wine tomato sauce with shrimp. The sauce was fine, THE NOODLES!!!!😡 I didn’t like, how do you get noodles wrong??! I think they make there noodles from scratch, which isn’t a problem for me. But, they were stuck together and not fully cooked. My husband ordered a steak and potatoes which was Chef’s kiss delicious and it was seasoned well and tender. My husband was satisfied with his meal as well as my brother, the women not so much. As we’re dining I noticed the house manager making rounds and checking on other parties near us but NEVER coming to our table. We’re near the end of our meal and the waitress come pass real fast and throws something on the table in front of my sister. I thought it was the check at first, but, at this point we are all looking bewildered at what it is. Then, my sister looked at it and said it’s a desert menu. So, yea we’re ready to call it a night. She brought the bills over to the table My husband and I meal was I think $120.00 he gave her $200.00 she asked, is change needed he said yes, she made no attempt to bring back our change before we were all saying our goodbyes and heading towards the door. What I will say that’s positive about the restaurant is their decor, regal and pleasing to the eye, the ambience is set up so beautifully to feel warm and welcomed .But, it’s beauty to be diminished by the humans...
Read moreI am so impressed by the new Basso in Westport!
The happy hour is absolutely fabulous—tons of options and everything we tried was a hit. Giant pizzas for just $7? Yes, please. We also tried two incredible spritzes—one made with lager—that were refreshing, unique, and also just $7 each. 🤯
We started with the cannellini dip and crispy meatballs (both flavorful and beautifully plated), then moved on to a margherita pizza, roasted cauliflower, and shishito peppers. But the true standout? That bucatini fra diavolo—tender shrimp, perfectly chewy noodles, and a sauce that’s pure magic. Easily one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in STL.
It is definitely on the louder side, especially near the bar—but it still manages to feel fun and energetic rather than overwhelming. The vibe is upscale-casual, the service was great, and the outdoor patio overlooking Westport Plaza is perfect for people-watching and catching a breeze.

Read moreWe went about a week after it opened. We had a reservation and still waited over 25mins for a table. It was so incredibly loud that we couldn’t hear the server. Definitely more of a loud social place with co-workers than a date night location. After we waited another 20mins for our appetizer, we asked if they could bring out our meals quickly or in to-go containers because we were so miserable with the noise. They brought the food out very quickly after that and we thanked the server and left. I also had an absolutely awful mocktail that tasted like cough syrup. Some things we experienced we hope are just learning curve items, but overall this place is not our vibe and we probably...
