Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in Maryland Heights

Well, the girl behind the counter mocked me for being white by using a honky tonk voice. When I asked why she was doing that, she did it again by mocking my question. Who the heck does that? Especially to a customer?

This is the first time in my life I experienced racism where I was at a place of business and giving them my hard-earned money. Before you get food here, just know they don’t like white people. In fact, they HATE white people. These are just the facts.

This was all after I walked into a filthy store and was ignored because they were complaining about people from their personal lives and I would have interrupted them.

For the record, the owner did contact me to apologize and offered me a free sandwich. I appreciate it but I don’t live in the area and wouldn’t go back if I did. This place puts a bad reputation on the Jersey Mike’s brand.

If I had been informed that that employee had been terminated because that kind of behavior isn’t tolerated, I would have went back when in town, and I wouldn’t have left this review.

My first experience was five star. I'm from Philly and these sandwiches are pretty darn good. The second time I went I bought a $3.85 drink cup because I wanted sweet tea. I go over to get the sweet tea and hit my head on the stupid drink sign that's hung way too low. So, I'm hurting and the tea is empty. The gal behind the counter unapologetically states, "Not a lot of people get the tea so we quit making it. There's soda." I don't do soda. The last two times I went in I walked back out after a very very slow-moving gentlemen who leads the line sans smile or eye contact treated me like I wasn't right in front of him while he took forever to make a small hoagie. It might have been 8 minutes watching this guy. Same guy the next time, slothing it. It's a shame because I would be a patron for the food... I've had dine-in, take out, and even delivery. I have tried this location for the last time the other day. What a horrible experience! Every time I have been at this location the staff are very rude and act like you're bothering them to have to make you a sandwich. I only go to this location because of the bogo offers that are occasionally in the Ad Papers. Otherwise, I'm not spending $12 for what seems like a 6 inch sandwich. It's barely worth the $6 each for two sandwiches with the coupon. They amount of meat they put on their sandwiches is always less than I've had at other locations (see attached pictures). The extremely small amount of lettuce they put on the sandwich is always brown and wilted, like it has been out for hours. It doesn't surprise me they have so many one star reviews.
