I have visited the wildwood location a couple times weekly for years as I live a couple blocks away. They have a manager named Angel who is the worst customer service provider I've ever met. He should only work in the back. Our first encounter was a couple years ago when the line was as always long (15 minutes waiting) and a tall blond was standing behind me complaining that she only wanted a drink and had to wait. So I'm in front of her and I reply "yea me too, I just want a coffee." So with her being loud, Angel comes out, walks past me (black female) and takes her order and card..walks to the register rings it up and brings her soda cup and card back. !!??? I literally had the exact same order of a coffee and only needed a cup. But somehow when I asked why I was skipped he defends his action of helping this lady standing behind me. Angel definitely remembers me and this incident. Fast forward..I'm in there recently ordering the same thing that I do weekly- bagel with cream cheese..warmed. Have ordered this online a couple times weekly for years without a problem. I go to pick up the order and instead of warm like normal, the bagel is room temp and the cream cheese is freezing cold. (I never have or would ever eat cold cream cheese). So I asked Angel why they didn't warm everything as requested in the order and he replies "oh we don't do that".
SINCE WHEN DOES A BAGEL SHOP NOT SERVE WARM BAGELS AND CREAM CHEESE!? Especially considering I've ordered the exact same order for years! He is a complete a$$. I took my cold food and had to make a detour stop at home to warm it being late to my next function. I promise if I had blonde hair - warming a bagel would not have been an issue.
Surprisingly I ordered the exact same order online the following day and... Surprise...it was warm. Clearly they do do that.. just not when Angel is...
Read moreI haven't been to NYC, but this is what I imagine the classic NY bagel to feel and taste like. Tough exterior. Chewy, gluten-y interior. Love the classic bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, but my favorite is Nova + CC. They also have pepper salmon, too!
One unique thing they do upon request (and is an option when ordering through Toast) is scooping out some of the bagel interior. This seemed odd when I first learned about this option, but then realized that it was SUPER helpful. The bagels can be tough to bite through and, in the process, cause the ingredients to slip out the back.
I typically order ahead when I come here. There is a line out the door here at basically all hours a day, which confirms how good it is! At present during COVID, the allow 2 people at max in the store at one time, which means that there is quick a large crowd on the sidewalk out front. There are two dedicated pick up parking spots immediately adjacent to the sidewalk out front, thought, so pick up and go is seamless.
My only complaint about my experience here: the coffee cups are awful. I ordered a large coffee recently and, by the time I got home, I lost more than half of the coffee; each time I grabbed it, the top popped off and the cup collapsed. Coffee spilled out the side the first time but then fell to the ground the...
Read moreOn Saturday my daughter, son-in-law, grandson (5) & granddaughter (3) and I came to Bethesda Bagels for the special weekend treat of bagels. The place is on the small side & was quite busy with a line that went to the door but we didn't have to wait long to order. I was surprised by the variety of the menu. My grandson got a pig in a blanket & a plain bagel with cream cheese. He thought that it's blanket was a bit too hard but I delighted in the taste and crispy texture when he offered a bite. The bagel was toasted up in the skillet when we got home and he loved it. My daughter wanted an everything bagel and a poppie seed bagel. They were cut in half and also toasted up so we could all share them. I toasted up a chocolate chip bagel but was disappointed by the very small amount of chocolate chips. I can't recommend it if you have a sweet tooth! We just bought a regular size cream cheese for $4.99 and it was more than enough for us. The bagels were $1.75. My son-in-law ordered one of their big sandwiches and it was done and handed to him several minutes later. He ate it at home & it was still warm & tasty. Until next time be kind to each other. #bethesdabagels #bagels #delicious @yelpdc...
