South Moon Under — Local services in North Bethesda

I have always loved this store! I visited this particular location and the supposed manager "Scout" was rude and unprofessional. She had 2 masks on and humiliated my mother in front of the entire store by asking her to wait outside because she had a face shield on. My mother has a doctors note and offered but the manager continued to yell in front of everyone. It was my mothers birthday and it was very upsetting. We had been in the store over 25 minutes before the manager appeared very nervous and fired up and started to make a scene. Ms. Wright was helping my mother and I and she was very nice. She checked me out and was very apologetic for the way in which it was handled. Ms. Wright should be the manager! I could tell select employees had little to no respect for the manager. Very awkward situation. A manager comes with great responsibility and professionalism no matter what industry or situation. No doubt COVID has divided and brought out the true colors of some. Don't forget, there are people in the world with existing medical issues that make it unsafe to breathe in a mask....

The first time I walked into South Moon Under, I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I walked in and wasn’t greeted by anyone, or asked if I need help or anything. As i’m looking at some shirts a white lady walks in and two workers greet her and ask if there anything they can help her find. This was very upsetting to me, everyone deserves the same amount of respect regardless of color. I decided to give them another try and went in again and they were unresponsive once again. I really hate talking about race but all of the females working were white and they did the same thing they did last time. I had to get my mom a birthday gift a few weeks ago and was in the area so I decided to go in, I was greeted and helped by this very sweet worker. I don’t know her name but she was very helpful, I felt welcomed for once. It was just odd to me that the first time I was greeted by a worker at the store it was by someone of color. While Montgomery Mall is less than 2 miles away, but South Moon Under is a step ahead of most clothing stores in this area. It's chic, yet it still has a sense of intelligence. Most of the merchandise is sportswear. There's also handbags (including marc by marc jacobs, the brand that fuels my nouveau rich fantasies), shoes, jewelry, books and knickknacks. I tend to head directly to the sale section, and today, I purchased a mixology swatchbook (since I can't cook, I figured I should be able to make drinks) and blotting powders. I find the jewelry reasonably priced, and I contemplated some $15 gold hoops. There were also some fab platform high-heeled sandals on sale for $29.99 plus an extra 25 percent off. I'd try to catch a sidewalk sale for Wildwood. One drawback to the shopping area is that all stores close early...
