My family and I have really enjoyed Fish Taco for many years and it is most likely our favorite restaurant. We order take-out from the Woodmont Plaza location once a week (typically on a Friday or Saturday night). We have been going to the Chevy Chase/Bethesda location and the Woodmont location for easily 5-6 years. The food is great and we have enjoyed the people working there always...except tonight.
Unfortunately tonight we encountered Gerardo Aguilar at the Woodmont location when we were picking up our "to-go" order. I mentioned that I had noticed that over the past 3 weeks, the amount of chips given when ordering chips and queso had dropped noticeably. His reply was "you can order another one" while gesturing to the register. I asked to speak with his manager and he "claimed" he IS the manager. I'm sorry to say that Gerardo's indignant attitude soured our Fish Taco experience. I told him that he had a lot to learn about customer service, but alas Gerardo kept with his attitude (which is a real shame).
My family loves the food and will continue to order from there but I would like to get in touch with the "owner" of the Woodmont location and make that person aware of Gerardo's much needed adjustment in how to treat a customer. I realize "chips" is not a monumental issue but that IS the point now isn't it. He could have simply said "I am very sorry about that and I will make sure you have a good amount of chips tonight". He could have added "3" chips to the bag for all I cared - the point is his dismissive attitude. One sentence...that's all it takes. To the owner...I advise that Gerardo is given a little more training before he does some "real" damage to your profits.
My rating for this "one" experience is 1 STAR, but that is in no way a reflection of the staff and the food they provided tonight. One person alone, the manager, Gerardo Aguilar, is the reason for this post.
Thank you for your time...
Read moreDisclaimer: I've been a regular at Fish Taco for a couple of years now and this review is specific to the Georgetown Rd. location!
Today, I ordered carry-out and I ran into three problems:
I was overcharged for my order by roughly $2.00 - I didn't notice this until after I got home and I didn't pursue the matter in store. It's not a huge deal to me... mistakes happen. Although I find it odd that this occurred since the store uses a POS system with (assumedly) pre-filled prices for each item. (For reference: I ordered a blackened fish burrito & elote and was charged just shy of $20 - No drinks, etc.) I called in ahead to order, and I was told that the food would take 10 minutes - No problem. I arrived in 10 minutes and I was told that it wasn't ready. Again, no problem.. they're busy. After waiting another 10 minutes, I asked about my order, and it was sitting on the table in the "unpaid" pile. So, the cashier never communicated payment to the person filling the bags, and I waited an extra 10 minutes for no reason... Slightly annoying (This is the most important issue as far as I'm concerned.) I ordered my usual blackened fish burrito. When I sat down at home to eat it, the burrito ingredients tasted amazing as usual, but the fish itself was completely burned on both sides (think cast iron skillet black). It was crunchy like fried fish. Not cool :(
I know that you all were busy, but please don't burn my fish!!
I'm not 100% sure if I'll return. If I do, it will probably only be at the Bethesda or Cabin...
Read moreI frequent Fish Taco all the time, because it's one of my son's, who is a well known YouTuber i(Peaks100) favorite places to eat. I placed an online order (which happened to be the wrong location). I generally go to the Wildwood location but today I mistakenly ordered here. I called as soon as I realized my mistake and asked to speak with a manager. The manager got on the phone and I explained to her what happened. I then asked her could I pick up the order another time or day because I was not in the area, or could I receive a refund. The manager stated the food was already made and she was unable to do anything. I think this is HORRIBLE customer service, being as though they received payment for my food. I have 20 years of management experience and I would have NEVER resolved this situation in this manner. Although, it was my mistake to order from the wrong restaurant, as a manager she should have made sure because I did not receive what I ordered that it should have been rectified in some way. I would never visit this location because of such horrible...
