I love this library, which has some of the most helpful librarians ever. When I presented a memoir-writing workshop here, the participants bonded so well that the workshop continued for months (which the library was happy with--that's why they asked for it!). We met in the basement and were often tempted to join the kids next door in the Kids Museum, because they were so animated and having such a great time -- learning about science through interesting hands-on activities. I have never been in the library when the computers weren't being used by at least half a dozen people, with some tables occupied by adults tutoring (I am assuming) English as a second language adult learners. Davis is the kind of library for which the "I love my library" bumper sticker...
Read moreI visit this library only for the kids program. The facilitator behaves like a strict disciplinarian refusing to let my 2 year have his pretzel snack, causing him to have a meltdown, insisting that no eating is allowed in the library. I've been around libraries in Montgomery county, and no facilitator has been this strict. It's impossible for me to bring my kid to this library as snacking is the only way to keep him quiet and participate. So the lady conducting the program is not kid friendly at all, compared to the other ones I've seen in other libraries. The program run is also dry, so go to Potomac, Kensigngton and Rockville libraries instead for more kid...

But then I noticed the librarian seemed to be keeping tabs on me, even following us when we moved to the couch area and sitting down across from me, as though I was suspicious to her because I was the only man in the room. I did not realize that sitting on the couch watching patrons of the library was a part of a librarians job, so you can imagine my confusion. I could be wrong, but regardless I felt uncomfortable, and we left. There are plenty of other libraries in...
