Definitely my first and last time going to this place. For starters walking into the establishment all 3 people are just looking crazy no one greeted me or anything (maybe that's too much to ask but i'm trying to provide context). As I'm ordering the girl taking my order clearly is bothered by something and simply doesn't want to be there. (I know this because I also observed the way she took other peoples orders giving them side eyes etc if they were taking too long or confused about something on the menu). After placing my order I went to get my beverage to which was completely flat, literally every single drink from the fountain tasted like sweet water. Got my burger and it had literally no flavor, it just tasted burnt although I was hungry I threw nearly half of it in the trash. This shocked me because it smelled so good in there, and the wait was ridiculously long for there to be hardly anyone there. But what really took the cake for me was how the young lady who took my order felt the need to speak with me when I placed the metal eating tray in the wrong place. Having not noticed the shelf over top of the trash can I proceeded to take the tray all the way to the other end of the counter where nothing else was as I assumed there was no where else to put them and I thought leaving them on the table would be a little careless. It seemed to me that this would be easier for them to just grab it off the counter and wash it etc. After doing so the young lady sharply says "DON'T SIT IT THERE SIT IT OVER THERE OVER THE TRASH CAN". Now by sharply I don't mean super loud and screaming but clearly in an irritated tone to which I responded well obviously I didn't know I thought this would be easier and I didn't see a shelf over there but OK. Nothing about this place tells me to come back. I left out and went up the street to my stylist and she then informed me that the business was black owned and all of a sudden it became clear. Coming from a black person who does NOT hate themselves or their people we have to do better. It's almost like you can count on a black owned business having subpar customer service. Nothing about the atmosphere was inviting or professional at all. It gave me "corner store vibes" from the beginning and I should have walked out instead of ordering but I did not. I really wish that my people would take more pride in ourselves and how we interact with each other be it a person of color or someone else. On a positive note the location is very nice and the tables and floors were relatively clean. I also think the menu options were good ideas but the execution is completely lacking. With the right customer service and better cooks i'm sure this could become an absolute staple but as of now it's a no from me with...
Read moreVery disappointing. One star is not deserved. On Friday, May 14 at 6:25pm, four of us went into this BGR in Columbia, MD for dinner. It was not busy. Four other patrons were eating. There were 7 or 8 staff behind the counter. We asked a couple questions regarding the menu of which none of the staff were able to answer. We each ordered burgers, sides, drinks and shakes. Only 1 of the 4 orders was prepared correctly. When we approached the counter for help, the lady suggested that she would give us the missing parts to each burger on the side for us to add. We didn’t feel this was the best solution. One burger had the wrong cheese melted into it with missing items; another burger had no cheese and missing items, while one of the burgers (A Chef’s Special) had nothing but the burger and dry buns. All 3 burgers were now cold from the lady trying to decide how to resolve the problem and she had been picking through them with her gloved fingers. Not sure what else she had touched with her gloves before she poked them into our burgers. We asked for new burgers to be made and she said yes. From the time we ordered our food, 3 or 4 people had come in, placed orders and had taken them to go. We waited almost another 15 minutes. We informed the lady at 7:30pm that we were leaving. She made no response. We had paid our bill in full upon ordering, were given the fries and shakes. Over an hour had passed and no meal. Very poor management and staff. Needless to say, we will not be returning to BGR at this location or probably any other. Chalk it up as a...
Read moreThis is a new experience for me as I honestly never write negative reviews, but here we go. I went there with some friends this afternoon because we were shopping and realized it was too late to cook something and be done at a reasonable time. So we waited in line for a decent amount of time (understandable given the pandemic), when our order was finally taken we had to wait around for another 15 to 20 minutes (again, understandable given it’s all handmade). However this is where the understandable aspects vanish.
When we got home we realized not a single burger was made to how it was specified, mine was rare when I said medium, my friends both ordered medium-rare and both got rare, one of which was still raw in the middle. Toppings were missing from burgers, incorrect buns, incorrect dressing, etc. My waffle fries were black and almost entirely inedible. But we spent the twenty minutes driving out to Columbia, another fourty-ish waiting for our order to be taken and to receive it, and another twenty driving home, not counting out actual shopping that’s almost an hour and a half, plus with the pandemic we weren’t going to head back to complain.
We finished our burgers and within ten minutes or so I had to run to the bathroom to vomit, despite feeling well all day, and even as I type this I don’t quite feel one hundred percent and am fairly certain I’ll be feeling sick for the rest of the night. If it were possible, I’d rate zero stars but unfortunately one will have to do. I will however say that I am NEVER...
