BurnBox Pizza — Restaurant in Maryland

I visited several times after they 1st opened, pizza is good, but everything takes a LONG time. I chalked it up to it being just opened and staff and long lines. Went back today. It's still sllooowwwwww. I did an online order for 2 pizzas, a cheese and pepperoni. Said 20 min. I go in at 20 min, head to the back for pickup, stopped about halfway asking if I was there for pickup. I said yes, he goes to check and tells me they are making them. I wait. About 10 min goes by, my pizzas aren't being made. I head to where you place your order and my order is there on the counter with about 6 other online orders. I wait another 5 min or so (its now 15 min stading in the restaurant). An employee comes up, I tell her the issue, she grabs my 2 tickets and moves them to the front. Now here's where there are problems. She has to make the dough! It was 1pm. Why wasn't the dough made already??? That's morning prep work! 5 later they make my 2 pizzas. Again very slowly which has always driven me crazy when you have ppl waiting. The pepperoni does not need to be exactly spread even! Anyway, pizzas are put in the oven. I wait. Somehow in the 5/7 min these were baking my cheese pizza disappears. No joke! I have 1 pizza ready the other is gone. I literally watched them put it in! So they gave my cheese to someone. I dont get it! So they gave it to someone else so then either they got a wrong pizza or somewhere else there was a pizza missing. So they make another. By the time I walked out it was 45 min PAST when these were supposed to be ready! The one woman staff member who helped was very nice and apologized but I never felt ANY urgency from anyone! They had 3 workers and a manager I think. Definitely need more people but also it didn't seem cohesive. How it was all done was not orderly or efficient. I like their pizza but I can say I don't know if I'll go back because it takes WAY TOOOOOO LONG! It takes WAY too long for this. It's pizza. Why do they look like they are operating on the pizza to put the sauce, cheese and any toppings on???? Why wasn't the dough already prepped and ready?? Move a little faster to create the pizzas? There was another woman there waiting for her online order as well. There should be a way to not allow online orders on the business side if staff is low. A woman actually came in, ordered and left, before me! Yet I'd placed an online order that wasn't given any attention until I said something. One staff member was only taking ppl that were walking in. If there is that much of a back up of online orders, you greet a walk in and ask for a few min to clear 1 or 2 online orders. My order itself was about #4 of the 6 or 7 sitting on the counter. So who knows how old the ones before me were....

Their Seafood Scampi Pizza (11 inch pie on traditional crust with garlic sauce, shrimp, crab, spinach, cheese blend, sun dried tomatoes, garlic butter, & parmesan cheese $18.95). STAMP!! If you live seafood..GET THIS!! Flavorful, buttery DELICIOUSNESS!!

Their Alfredo’s Wife (11 inch pie on traditional crust with kale, mozzarella, cheddar, smoked Gouda, Alfredo sauce, chicken, red peppers, & garlic butter $12.49). LIKE THAT!! That multi blended cheese, a savory Alfredo sauce, & garlicky!!

Their Create Your Own Pizza (I got a traditional crust & put pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, red onion, mushroom, hot honey, Gouda, parmesan, & garlic drizzle $13.95). STAMP!! Garlicky with traditional toppings with that pungent Gouda, & sweet spicy honey!!

Their Stubborn Root Beer ($3.49). STAMP!! @stubbornsoda Is definitely high in flavor!! . Customer Service: On Point!! . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: DECENT . Music: YouTube-Backyard Band Socket . Recommendations: The Seafood Pie is a must have!!

I am always going to support a black owned business…but I swear it’s always something.

For starters, we were not greeted or acknowledged when we walked in. I’ll come back to this point later.

FOOD: We ordered two pizzas; vegan Burnbox added mushrooms and Power up with no cheese no red onions add green peppers.

I specifically asked about vegan pepperonis before I placed my order, the young man confirmed they had them, only to get in the middle of building my pizza to tell me they didn’t have any. Then the older guy went back and forth with me about the power up pizza not having vegan crumbles on the pizza - he literally came back from behind the register to verify which I was proven correct. The pizzas were bland, dough was not cooked. I asked for LIGHT vegan cheese and they loaded it up.

EXPERIENCE: 3 young men making pizzas and they did not seem to follow direction well…probably because they were all watching the football game and discussing that instead of making pizzas. Mistakes could have been avoided if they were more attentive to their job and not distracted by the television.

SERVICE: Slow with a lack of accountability and basic customer service/restaurant training. Ie no hair nets, talking over the food, not paying attention, easily distracted.

I want to support. I was happy about this place because of the vegan options but my first experience was not pleasing. Not sure if I’ll return. The last straw was when we and the folks in front of me were not greeted but when those of another color/race walked in, they were greeted with “Welcome to BurnBox Pizza”.

It was not busy at all, this level of service or lack thereof are unacceptable. I hope...
