Used to love this Smoothie King in Waldorf but not anymore. I always try to give places the benefit of the doubt but I have had multiple negative experiences over the last month both online and in person.
I used to order online faithfully and when the service stopped being offered, I went into the store to inquire and completely understood that they were short staffed with the transition of teens going back to school and everyone going back to work. I understood that the online service would resume as they added more staff.
I became alarmed soon thereafter when I went to the store and went inside and no one was there. I had gotten there right when it was supposed to open and there was no one there. I started to call the police thinking that the employees must have been robbed or something because they weren't coming to the front. I didn't call the police but an employee came in and immediately closed the store and put myself and another customer behind me out. There were two different sets of hours posted on the window and we were told that we were there too early.
Despite this, I went to an adjacent service establishment for several hours and then went back to SK again. The store remained closed and I was told that the computers were down.
After a few weeks, I was delighted to find that the online service had been reactivated. I placed an online order, showed up at the store to pick it up and found that the store was closed in the middle of the afternoon. There was a sign saying that the store would not be open again for another 2 hours. I called 2 hours later and requested a refund. I was told that the manager would have to give me the refund and that he would call me. I left all my contact information and waited for him to call. When he did not call me, I called back the next day and was told the same thing by a different employee. After 3 days of waiting for the manager to call and not getting my refund, I stopped by in person and requested the manager's phone number. I was told that I could not have that information and also that the corporate information was not available either. Infuriated, I told the employee that the manager was supposed to call me 3 days ago and refund my money. After this, the employee called the manager who just refunded my money.
This is the first time I've ever posted a review but after such poor service on multiple occasions and not being able to speak with the manager or a corporate person directly, I really felt I needed to do this to save others the grief I feel. I tried to post this with zero stars but it...

I ordered the spinach pineapple smoothie, but when I tasted it at home, I realized it contained protein powder as I was giving power meal smoothie. As someone with celiac disease, I cannot consume protein powder due to concerns about gluten contamination. When returned to the store to explain the mistake, I encountered mixed responses from the staff. One of the employees who took my order was very apologetic and understanding of my dietary restrictions. However, the employee who made the smoothie was unprofessional, argumentative, and dismissive of my concerns. She kept rolling her eyes then abruptly cut me off and left the counter to go in the back room to call the manager on the phone without fully addressing the issue with me first. When she returned, she was very animated then proceeded to informme that the manager refused to refund me or make a new smoothie, which I found very odd and strange. This lack of empathy and disregard for my health was very concerning. Fortunately, another employee (a young man who was very polite, apologetic about the situation and with the upmost professionalism) stepped in and offered to make me a new smoothie. Despite the initial resistance from the unprofessional staff member, it was eventually resolved, but not without unnecessary stress and frustration. To the manager and/or owner, my experience should shed a light on the importance of proper training and professionalism among staff members. It is unacceptable for a customer's dietary restrictions to be disregarded, especially when it could potentially endanger their health. Read moreI usually do not write any bad reviews because I try to give people the benefit of what people are going through internally but today is the last time I will visit Smoothie King in Waldorf, MD. The customer service is horrible the young gentleman kicked me out of the store and called the police on me after they canceled my order order he also mentioned that the online system made 8 orders (I only had one order confirmation only )without providing a return credit receipt. I never received it and now I am on the phone with corporate trying to get my money returned for an order that they didn’t have the supplies to make. Not my fault at all I did what I was suppose to do and placed the order. My suggestion to management is to work on customer service and how to issue refunds to the customer on the spot when online orders are cancelled due to no supply. Do not go to this store it’s not worth your livelihood. I am traumatized and cannot believe that this happened to me.
Update day 4, contacted the website below and worked with corporate on this matter on Thursday as well. No one has followed up with me yet after that. Corporate mentioned they sent my information to the owner and no one has contacted me yet. Also checked my bank statement no credit for this purchase yet.
