Let me be clear, your food comes in a basket and it feels very casual, but these are some of the best gourmet burgers and fries in the greater DC area. Before "gourmet" scares you off, the prices are ridiculously cheap for amazing burgers, duck fat fries, or whatever particular fancy you go for.
The location isn't tough to find, but don't be surprised if you have to do a loop around the block to get back to the public parking because all the spaces out front were already taken.
The owner and his sons are constantly walking around checking up on customers - their attention to a delicious meal and customer satisfaction is not expected (especially at such an affordable price point) and absolutely superb.
Hopefully they grow into other markets and their business model becomes the new norm for burger joints because they are doing it SO much better than most of the burger chains going in on every corner.
Docking one star for atmosphere just because I feel like the TV is up a bit loud and a free tap water situation vs paid bottled water would be a plus (but they need to make money - I get it).
P.S. my kids LOVE this place. I usually get the...
Read moreI’ve been to Frank’s Burgers a few times, both at the old location and the new one, so I knew what to expect. This time, however, I was very disappointed in the service, specially since I brought four friends there for dinner last evening.
We were seated at the adjacent restaurant, which is fine, but service was all downhill from there. They use a self-service refrigerator for drinks, and once seated I asked for a glass of ice for my soda. The glass came with four small ice cubes that were promptly dissolved in my drink. OK, I can live with that. Once our burgers were delivered, we noticed that there were no napkins at the table. Not finding anyone to help, I got up and looked around for a supply of napkins. I ended up walking to the Frank’s side and asked the person behind the counter to bring us some napkins.
One of my friends asked for ketchup. They brought us an empty bottle. So again I had to walk over to the counter to exchange the empty bottle for one containing ketchup. I also had to get up a third time to request plastic utensils so we could eat the parts of our burgers that had come off the buns.
Please, basic service can’t...
Read more1st time at Frank’s. Wanted to try them cause had pretty good reviews. Service was very friendly and informative. I ordered the Smash Burger with the Rosemary Parmesan Fries and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The Fries came with a really good Garlic Aioli Sauce. Now the breakdown on the taste , the burger was very juicy but the seasonings they sprinkle on top during cooking was very salty, anyone can add more salt if that’s their liking but once it’s on, you can’t remove it. The fried chicken sandwich was well done, there was nothing appetizing about it, we just took a couple bites and called that one a waste. The Homemade Ketchup, stick to Heinz and the Comeback Sauce doesn’t belong on the chicken sandwich, for us it tasted better as a dipping sauce for the fries. Now for the best part, the fries, they were very tasty, handcut with skin, I actually liked better than Five Guys Fries. Sorry Frank, this isn’t the best review. I feel like there’s potential for a pretty good burger joint but you for sure missed the mark with our order. Maybe...
