Longhorn is my favorite steak-house chain in the "normal" tiers. It's decor is getting a bit dated, but I still I prefer Longhorn overall to Texas Roadhouse and Outback. I tend to get consistent service and I prefer the sides at Longhorn over the others. Plus, the steak tends to be much less salty. Longhorn is one of my "go to" places when I am on the road. As a matter of fact, I ate at two, one in both NC and another in FL, in the last month with no problems. But this location must have a new chef who is inexperienced at cooking steak because I've eaten here before without issues.
I retired last week and wanted a low-key dinner with my family that night. A party may follow, but I just wanted a good steak and to relax without anyone having to worry about cooking. Well, I was able to relax, but this was the first time I ever sent a steak back at a Longhorn (and since I choose Longhorn when traveling, I've probably eaten at 10ish). My wife and daughter also had to send there's back. And the table next to our booth had two people also receive their steaks wrong.
But, I'll stick to my party... I ordered medium. It came out very, very well done. They brought me a new one, had me cut it, and I just didn't have the heart to send a second one back because it was also well done. Not as bad as the first, but still too well done.
Both my wife and daughter ordered medium rare. They came out raw. When they came out the second time, they also came out pretty much well done. At that time, we were just all too hungry to wait and hunger does make the best sauce. Which is good because, other than my daughter's baked potato and the salads, everything else was also too overcooked... I'd ordered steamed asparagus and my wife ordered the same except she wanted her's grilled. They both came out steamed to the point they were mush and they were over-salted. We also ordered crispy brussels sprouts but they were black on the outside and mushy in the middle.
Our server, though, was more than accommodating. She tried her best, and no way were we going to punish her for the kitchen. Not sure who brought us our second steak... they didn't identify themselves as management or otherwise. But they saw the steaks were all overcooked and offered to do them, again, for a third time. We all declined and ate a disappointing meal.
I'm sure that I will give this location another chance, but they need to invest in a meat thermometer and training for...
Read moreBelieve it or not, this was my first time at LongHorn Steakhouse. I guess my parents never took me growing up, but now I see why it’s such a fan favorite. I came in specifically because I saw those viral Parmesan crusted lamb chops on TikTok and wanted to try them. Sadly, I just missed them since they’re seasonal, but I decided to go with the Parmesan crusted ribeye steak instead and I wasn’t disappointed.
To start, my boyfriend and I split the Parmesan crusted spinach dip and the wings, which we also had done Parmesan style. Both were delicious. The wings came out with three sauces: hot sauce, blue cheese, and ranch, and every bite hit. Honestly, just from the appetizers alone, I’d come back.
For my drink, I don’t do tequila so I skipped the margaritas, but our server Larry (shoutout to him) was amazing. He was friendly, down to earth, and gave great recommendations. He had the bartender whip up a lemon drop with mango for me, and it was really good. Light, smooth, and refreshing. my boyfriend got a strawberry margarita and he really really loved it. honestly, Larry didn’t miss on any of his recommendations so the next time we come back fingers crossed that we get him again as our server.
For sides, I had broccoli with Parmesan, a sweet baked potato with cinnamon sugar, a side of lobster, and we also tried the rice. The rice really surprised me. I thought it might be bland, but it was actually well seasoned and tasty. Every plate had something that stood out.
Overall, it was a great first visit. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the service from Larry made it even better. I’ll definitely be back. Next time, I’m catching...
Read moreOur last visit really soured my view on LongHorn. We waited over 50 minutes because they were serving a party of 30. I understand that isn't entirely their fault. However the service we got following the long wait is inexcusable.
They sat us in a high traffic area knowing he had an infant in a high chair. The high traffic meant everyone that passed either bumped us or the high chair. Strike one.
The server for our table then didn't come to get our drink order for 10 minutes. We had to go talk to the manager to get drinks. After the manager left out server finally arrived. Apologized saying he had 3 tables all seated at the same time. He asked If he could get us drinks and we said we already had the manager get us drinks. And proceeded to order. Strike two.
When our food came out things went from bad to worse. Despite writing down our orders 4 of our 5 meals were wrong. We should have been tipped off when he brought my wife was a salad when she didn't order a salad. My meal was the only correct meal. Every other person's side orders were wrong. When the runner brought out meals out we noted all the mistakes and he was quick to fix them. Excpet my wife's order of asparagus which apparently can not be made without the butter sauce.
The manager came over and gave us 25% off which was nice but not enough. He said the server was new and they clearly need better training.
It will be a long time before I even consider going back...
