Came in for a quick lunch this Sunday since the Thai place is in the neighborhood. Food was ok and bland without much flavor I'm used to from other Thai restaurants. Spending $50 for a lunch when there is so much competition and alternatives was surprising there was any rude attitudes. Highland and Clarksville is a multicultural, multiracial community. My wife is African and wears a Hijab and I'm African American. The guy was just plain rude, short in responses and not very helpful. We almost left but the next Thai restaurant was 20 minutes away in Ellicott City.
This wasn't even what was surprising because I just ignored the behavior as him being tired. We sat down to eat and when he brought the food to the table we said thank you politely and he didn't respond, he just rudely dropped the plates and bowl on the table and walked away. He never responded to us. We looked at each other like what was that about? š
However, when the white customers came into the store, OH...MY...GOD...the smile was out. The helpfulness and customer service was now happening. He miraculously and suddenly became very bubbly and friendly. When we walked in the place was empty. After we started eating, 15 minutes later 8 customers came in and sat down to eat. Their Thank you's we're responded to with warm, "your welcome!" and he suddenly became responsive and he was all smiles and happy. š³š¤¦š½āāļø . Wow...some foreigners don't realize to treat EVERYONE the same. Black or White or Asian or anybody... Good grief. With a thick Thai accent, we did not judge and read the menu instead because we couldn't really understand him. However, the other lady kept making him repeat what he was saying. š¤£
We won't be going back again. Which is sad because our property is right down the road 5 minutes away. In 2022, I don't even get upset...I just feel shake my head at this stupidity...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI truly wish I could provide no stars. I just left this restaurant (carry out with seats) due to a manās very disrespectful and rude demeanor over my not tipping in advance. My daughters and I drove from EC to give them a try and were so excited to. When we arrived we were greeted as normal. The set up was a bit weird as it lays out like a regular seating and full service restaurant however you walk up to the register to place your own order, obtain and fill your own drink etc. I ordered over $80 worth of items selected no tip (until I seen what tip was deserved by service I intended to pay in cash) grabbed our drinks and proceeded to sit down. This man not sure who he is to the restaurant slammed his feet over to our table put our receipt down and said ā Hereās your receipt this total (pointing at the amount) without tipping.ā I was completely shock at his tone and level of disrespect. I responded excuse me! He walks away screaming back to the front in front of other guests, 5 people you need to tip the waitress.
Youāre kidding me?! You want me to do all the work and then tip in advance because plates are brought to the table. The remaining of the service we provided to ourselves. (Again my intention was to tip once our service was completed, the tip would have been according to the work completed)
I will never again step in that restaurant and most definitely will continue to recommend Eatini in ellicott City. At the rate of reviews I see about this man. I imagine heās the owner. I pray his business survives. At the level and rate he is disrespecting people, he will have a cold oven and grill soon enough.
Without your guests support you are nothing! Keep...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreManow Thai has terrible food. Spouse wrote a review last night and I note it's dropped right to the bottom of the google-selected order in which reviews appear - personally I like to see the most recent reviews first. You can sort them at the top by clicking on highest, lowest, most recent etc. Recommend if you're here reading their reviews you sort by lowest. Many of them are in the last year.
We had completely inedible dishes - yellow curry and vegetable stirfry. For both we selected "medium spice" -- it was too hot to eat more than one bite. Called Manor Thai's number to ask if there had been some sort of mistake, and to offer to return the food if they'd make it again as really medium. Hung up on by the woman who answered the phone after she told us some implausible story about how the chillies can be different so the spice level will vary (so why offer customers the option to choose?). If you read all the reviews (sort by lowest), there's a pattern of this sort of poor customer service, and making customers feel unwelcome.
Uber initially said we weren't entitled to a refund (because the reason you have to select is "problem with taste" which is subjective of course. However we persisted with ubereats, sending them pictures of the food in the bin and explaining what happened, how the food was actually too spicy to even swallow, and they did then give a full refund.
Will be using the credit at a different restaurant and will never return to Manow Thai. Anywhere can make a mistake, but it's how you deal with it that counts. Any business that hangs up on a customer who is politely asking if they can correct a problem is showing what they think of...
