My Mexican husband and I tried these tacos today and really wanted to like them….Unfortunately the only one I was able to eat was the chicken taco. It had an okay flavor and the portion size was generous.
We ordered two pollo asada, two carne asada, two Al pastor and two carnitas.
The carne asada unfortunately had a boiled flavor and hardly any seasoning. The meat also tasted like it was really low quality. For me it was inedible. For my husband he was able to get his down but really didn’t enjoy the flavor, or lack thereof.
The carnitas again lacked seasoning and just tasted like boiled meat. I couldn’t eat this one either. My husband ate it because he was hungry but again didn’t enjoy it.
The Al pastor had what appeared to be canned pineapple and again really no flavor but a very porky one and the texture was extremely dry.
The salsa had a good amount of spicyness to it but there was something off about the consistency and it tasted a little sweet. Overall just a miss for real Mexican food.
The tortillas fell apart even though there were two on each taco.
Overall just really disappointed with this place especially considering 8 tacos cost $30. For that price point in my opinion you should be getting fresh hand made tortillas, fresh fruit and higher caliber meat.
I understand they just opened so I hope this review can give them some insight into changes they might want to implement asap. Until then we will continue the trek to Habanero in College Park for the outstanding...
Read moreI had a bit of a difficulty finding this place. I've been to the restaurant upstairs several years ago but never down here. I saw the sign and went in and walked around twice before I found it. Yes, I am getting old. Common Kitchen. Like the name says, the kitchen is in the middle and there are stalls that surround it. I don't think they really share the kitchen as each stall seems to have all they need in their space. I imagine they do some intermingling so it would be correct to call it common kitchen.
Now the Taco Joint. Since this was my first time here, I had no clue what to do. Andre was very friendly and helpful with my tacos. He was later joined by Cooper. Spent more time talking to the young men than taking photos but here are a couple. I tried a little bit of all the tacos and honestly, they were all good. Took some home to the wife and daughter and they both loved it. I am going to go back and try some other dishes they serve as well. This Common Kitchen has a bit of everything so everyone can get what they want.
I hear talk about how the young people do not want to work and how the future is in trouble. I beg to differ. I can truly say the kids are doing fine. They may not do things the way we did but they are having fun and learning and growing. This is the story of all of us...
Read moreGiving 3 stars because their Al Pastor tacos & the salsa used for the tortilla chips is really good! However, the young lady with the blue hair has TERRIBLE customer service. Normally I've used Doordash to eat their food, but the two times I've actually gone to the location she has been a problem. Yesterday (Oct.28th) I took my mother to try their food and we stood in line waiting for her to acknowledge us, but instead she continued using her phone. She could clearly see us but simply didn't say anything. I started to order and requested the roasted corn on the side and she rolled her eyes. I asked if that was a problem, and she didn't even reply back! The other young lady making the food said it wasn't. As I waited for the food, my mother brought some drinks to be paid for, but once again...Blue hair girl just sat there on her phone! She didn't bother ringing me up for the drinks. The young girl who made our food was VERY nice and when I asked if the drinks were free (being sarcastic) she apologized and rang me up. To the owners of this place... Get better staff!! Bad customer service is a deal breaker for many consumers, even if the...
