This is not my first bad experience at Osteria Costa. I am local and have dined here for their Sunday brunch and other occasions. All dining experiences have resulted in unacceptable food delays and service. I haven’t had any issues with getting drinks at the bar with no food service. We came to Osteria Costa to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Laura, the manager, was also the greeter/hostess. She was very upbeat, polite and professional. She should be the model for the rest of the staff. Once seated at our table (we had a 7PM reservation but had to wait at the bar for a table), we ordered the Valentine’s Day special menu. We waited, waited, waited and waited for our food. We were out of drinks so walked to the bar to get them even though we had a server Imani (sp?). We decided to take our food to go except for the first course since it included raw oysters. We also spoke to the assistant manager Fabiano. The staff and kitchen seemed overwhelmed. It took well over an hour to get the appetizer which is completely unacceptable in the food service industry. It was good. We spent almost two hours there just waiting for our “To Go” order. When we opened the containers, the spaghetti al fruitti di mare did not have much seafood. It was more like one clam, one shrimp and one mussel as pictured. The spaghetti was ok but anyone can make it. The gnocchi was tasty. There were only two scallops for the pan roasted scallops and they are in the fridge with the rest of the food so I cannot comment on the rest of it. There is an opportunity for this restaurant to improve. We hope that Laura and Fabiano can turn this place around. Everyone, including our server, was apologetic. I understand you cannot serve food that is not there to serve. The food wasn’t horrible but if you want exceptional food and service at the MGM, I highly recommend Voltaggio Brothers. They are consistent with both food quality...
Read moreWe went last night for dinner. The three of us sat adjacent to the bar, and I am facing in the direction of the bartender. We ordered two negronis. I watched the bartender struggle to make a simple cocktail that is equal parts of three different ingredients. He then proceeded to shake the cocktail rather than a traditional stir. The drink was unbalanced with too much Vermouth. No orange peel. I finished it because I didn't want it to be wasted, but my father did not finish.
Caprese Crostini, Caesar salad and Calamari apps average to good. No complaints about the NY Steak Fiorentina, although there was nothing special that stood out.
My mother's linguine with clams dish was incredibly over spiced, and I love spicy food. The garlic was almost burned and you could taste it. These two things overtook all the other ingredients. She could not finish the meal.
The worst dish by far was the spicy rigatoni with vodka sauce. It's borderline criminal that the restaurant offers this dish with this name. It was a bonafide pasta with very basic spicy red sauce. It was not a vodka sauce by any means. If the cooks want to know what a real vodka sauce tastes like, I suggest trying the one at Carbone or getting a similar recipe. I ate less than one third of it.
Had the meal not been comped with my points, we would have definitely returned the two pasta dishes.
Service was above average. Good waiter.
I originally gave this a three star review when I replied to an email requesting feedback, but upon further thought, I am confident that 2-2.5 stars is appropriate. A mid to high end Italian restaurant like this needs to have better quality food, specifically their pasta dishes.
I cannot in good faith recommend that anyone spend their hard earned money at...

This started as a nice experience, but ended as a not so great one due to the general manager Lydia who was pretty condescending for no reason, as we were very nice to her when speaking to her. It unfortunately made me think it was because we were an INTERRACIAL COUPLE. And even worse, I’m just seeing she gave us the incorrect number for her superior when we asked.
My boyfriend selected this place. They had a pre fixe for Valentine’s Day but he’sallergic to gluten. After telling the waiter (who was so very kind and provided great service, by the way) his allergy, he brought over the regular menu and told him to choose an entrée, as a solution. This was presented as if it would be included in the regular pre fixe price, which was $150 per couple. Instead they charged us $75+ $135. Our sever was great and I didn’t want to blame him but I do think he should’ve told us they would charge full price for the entree. I also think Lydia could’ve been more understanding and not so short and cold. We were very kind. When we asked if the $60 could be refunded she just flat out said no and shrugged, which I found to be kinda rude. It was kinda like “get over it.” If we were even slightly rude to anyone there, I would understand it but we weren’t. The staff was great, just some misunderstandings… but Lydia had the nastiest attitude and as an interracial couple, it made us really uncomfortable. I wouldn’t go here if you...
