Food: 3/5 -- only good food were the wings (appetizer), complimentary bread, and seasonings on the proteins of main entrees
Filet mignon + lobster: The lobster tail was small and seasoned well. I ordered medium rare filet mignon, and it looked well-seared and smelled amazing. When I cut in though...The middle was not yet medium rare. I could only eat 2 small bites, and when I cut the rest... it was most definitely rare. I didn't want to be "that customer" and "make a scene" but my family made a point that this plate costs $36 and I should at least let the cooks know about it. Told our waiter the situation, he was very polite and responsive. Manager was first polite about asking what was wrong, but when it came to coming to a solution, it seemed as if she thought we were trying to get a whole new plate... which wasn't the case at all. Anyway, manager took it back to put in a fresh one. 10 minutes later, a new one came out in a to-go box (we were packing to leave), and something told me to cut into it to check before leaving. Good thing I did because when I cut into the center, it was raw again... though, the edges were very tough and well-done. Seems like the pan was too hot so the outside cooked before heat even made it to the center, which makes it seem like it was rushed to be put out. At this point, with that atmosphere and the manager involved, I just told my family to not even send it back. As soon as we got home, we seared it ourselves to get medium rare. I wish I remembered to take pictures, but I was so hungry that I couldn't wait. Seasonings on the filet were great though
Our service: 3/5 -- Waiter (not naming names) was very polite and had great manners in front of us. Only thing though was he rarely checked on us, didn't clear the table after apps were finished, and was a little unprofessional when interacting with other staff and customers. You could hear him behind the bar complain about his job and his manager...
Atmosphere: 1/5 -- Walked in and was not greeted by anyone... 1 or 2 hostesses + the manager. When we said the whole party was here (4 people), no one answered us... just glanced at us blankly. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left, we could hear all the staff complaining about everything (hosting in the front, the manager being very rude, trying to pawn off "bad tables" to other servers, etc.). It was both young and older adults. The young adults had inappropriate conversations around customers even next to the children sitting at the table beside us. They also gossiped very loudly about their tables. It was unprofessional and left a bad taste just to hear them talk like that. They weren't even trying to be discreet or quiet about it either. I understand having bad days and rude customers (I've had to deal with that too) but there's a time and place to complain about that.... it should be in the back, not on the floor, especially not while you're serving other customers. The older adults just complained about the manager. Again, I completely understand having rude management, but there's a time and place... which is definitely not at the bar where all customers can hear you.
Overall: 2/5 -- My family used to like this place, but after this experience and reading similar reviews, I don't think we'll be coming back. I highly recommend Longhorn in Columbia (quite a way, but definitely worth the price and...

Read moreI don't usually start my day, or anyone else's for that matter, like this; however, last night's experience at Outback Hunt Valley calls for some attention. We came as a party of ten to celebrate my husband's birthday. Although our group was accommodated and space was made for us, the evening went downhill rapidly. No one greeted us at the door for quite a while. It really wasn't overwhelmingly busy; plenty of tables were empty. Upon finally greeting us, the hostess told me she needed a minute to find a server who could "handle a group our size".... went to our table, no silverware, a few menus, and the wait began. The bartender claimed she was doing us a favor by serving us because so many people are flooding in (isn't that the point of restaurant work), and could we please order quickly. And, by the way, still not busy. Orders for waters and tea were taken and another server brought some. We waited. Pressured to order apps we did so yet had to ask for silverware. Had to ask for a gluten-free menu three times. Asked several people, yet no one remembered long enough to provide one. Ordered dinner, had to ask for water refills, and after promising the gluten-free dinner would be flagged for the kitchen, it came out with fried onions. My daughter waited through a plethora of excuses and blame shifting, yet we were all finished eating when her dish was put on the table. Dirty dishes stacked up, empty glasses everywhere and yet another server did his best to make sure the birthday song was over-the-top. Too late. And no one else was offered dessert despite a few of us wanting something. Icing on the cake, dead batteries in the card reader. Had to get up and walk around looking for help. No manager ever in sight or checking in ( I probably wouldn't at this location myself). Let's finish this by saying I have several years' experience in restaurant serving, and ALL of the basics are missing at Outback. Awful. There's no resolution here because we will not return. Last eyar, coincidentally, my sister and I tried to have lunch there and after being seated, waited TWENTY minutes before getting up and leaving. No server, no concern, no explanation. We gave it another chance, but never again. Can't imagine this place...
