People rejoice! At long last Popeyes, the world famous Louisiana chicken establishment, has finally opened here in Columbia MD. Known for its mouth watering chicken and biscuits, it’s no wonder so many citizens of Columbia were lined up out the door to get their hands on some food. BUT does the grand opening of this fast food fried chicken phenom live up to the hype? Well, let’s start by looking at the positives. First off the staff here on launch day was terrific. Love the warm greetings I received upon entry to the restaurant. The place was boasting with enthusiasm, a tip of the hat to Popeyes management for having everyone mentally prepared and happy for opening. Food was to die for as expected. I of course dabbled in a full bucket of chicken along with some delicious sides and everything was great to a tee! The chicken is absolutely succulent, something other fast food chicken places just cannot seem to grasp. Breading was crunchy with a perfect culmination of spices to compliment the rich taste of the chicken. The biscuits were buttery, flaky and had the right moisture level you would want in a biscuit instead of a stale dry taste you get elsewhere. Job well done kitchen staff! Unfortunately, not all is well here at Popeyes in fact there are several major drawbacks that negatively impacted my visit. First off the parking and location is TERRIBLE. By being planted smack dab in the middle of the Giant grocery parking lot, this venue is a recipe for parking lot chaos. I can assure you Officer Buchanan of the HoCo police department will have his hands full writing tickets for hungry chicken consumers this summer. Interior of the Popeyes leaves a lot left to be desired. Small and compact with hardly any seating available makes this spot one for the drive-thru which was unfortunately packed out onto the main road YIKES! Worst of all is the menu and pricing. Hardly any variation in sides compared to competitors. The additional charge for items like silverware and sauces is nothing more than a money grubbing, cash grab. It’s bad enough how much Maryland residents are taxed as is, now we’re getting taxed on sauces!?!? Guess that’s what we get for voting for all these democrats! Overall my experience here at Popeyes was quite pleasant. There are some tweaks that could be made, and unfortunately some things that cannot be fixed, but it’s up to management and staff to run with what works and keep this place thriving for years to come. Congrats on the grand opening and welcome to Columbia!

Read moreI recently visited Popeyes, a popular fast-food chain known for its delicious fried chicken. While the main attraction—the chicken—did not disappoint, I found myself disappointed with the consistent oversight when it came to side orders.
On multiple occasions, my orders were missing the side dishes that I had specifically requested and paid for. This became a frustrating pattern that tarnished an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. It’s disheartening to have to double-check and repeatedly remind the staff about the inclusion of side orders.
The lack of attention to detail regarding side items is a significant flaw for a restaurant that prides itself on offering a complete meal experience. It’s disappointing to receive a bag with just the main entrée, leaving me without the accompanying side dishes that enhance the overall meal.
The inconsistency in providing side orders not only inconveniences customers but also creates a sense of unreliability. It’s frustrating to have to return to the restaurant or settle for an incomplete meal when you’ve already made your purchase and are looking forward to a satisfying dining experience.
While I appreciate the tasty chicken and the other elements that make Popeyes an appealing choice, the recurring issue with missing side orders leaves a negative impression. Consistency and attention to detail are crucial for a restaurant’s success, and unfortunately, Popeyes falls short in this aspect.
I hope that Popeyes addresses this issue and implements measures to ensure that side orders are consistently included with customers’ meals. Doing so will greatly improve the overall dining experience and restore confidence in the brand’s ability to deliver a complete and satisfying meal.
Overall, despite Popeyes’ flavorful chicken, the consistent oversight in providing side orders is a significant drawback that detracts from the overall dining experience. It is my sincere hope that the management takes note of this concern and takes steps to...

When asked how they were fulfilling the combo, I was told they planned on substituting popcorn shrimp instead...without telling the customer??? The manager didn't seem to think it was a problem either.
Always something at this location. Sadly it's the closest Popeyes to run to on a rare occasion.
Update: July 12, 2020, 8:30ish pm Downgrade to 1 star Not at all busy. While waiting for our food to be made, I took a sip of half sweet/half unsweet tea...to my surprise, it tasted like 2/3 water and 1/3 sweet tea. 2nd beverage was sweet tea and it tasted the same! They brought food, we requested different drinks, no problem. We received the replacement beverages almost 5 minutes later! UGH!!! Got home to find that the side of green beans is a half portion of a small side. What?!?!?!
They still will not answer the phones... definitely a 1 star experience.
We've visited here several times. They are usually busy...For not being busy (1 car in front of us and another behind), they were completely disorganized. Gave customer ahead a bag of food, which entered the vehicle, was looked through and then was handed back to the drive thru staff. Got to the window, asked if our order was the one handed to the previous car, and was told, "I don't think so". Ummm....pardon? They only had half of our order (per read back) but was trying to charge us the whole amount. Got that squared away after a few minutes. Got home to find a 3-4" black, straight hair cooked into the underside of a piece of chicken. Have tried calling for 2hrs and only get a busy signal. Definitely a bad...
