On Saturday evening, I had one of the most unusual experiences while watching football at Primanti Bros.
The restaurant was bustling with activity. The bartenders were swift, efficient, and prepared excellent cocktails. Although I am not a frequent patron of Primanti Bros and cannot comment on their usual standards, I witnessed exemplary service from Brandi as she handled a particularly difficult guest at the bar.
While enjoying my drink, I was abruptly interrupted by a gentleman loudly shouting at the television. Penn State, often considered a mediocre team, was playing and losing its game. His disruptive behavior was clearly making other patrons uncomfortable. However, the situation escalated further.
The gentleman ordered a Bacon and Egg sandwich, which was delivered promptly and with a smile. For reasons unknown, he demanded that Brandi have the sandwich remade, claiming it was "cold on one half and warm on the other." Despite the improbability of this claim, given the consistent cooking temperatures of restaurant flat tops, Brandi took the sandwich back to be remade. She returned with a fresh sandwich after about five minutes and apologized, but this was not satisfactory for the guest.
The man, a self-proclaimed Penn State football fan, continued to complain, insisting that the new sandwich was also incorrect. Brandi, with patience and professionalism, explained that she had personally observed the sandwich being remade. Unconvinced, the guest rudely demanded to speak to the cook directly to express his dissatisfaction. Man: "Tell your cook he sucks". Brandi: "I'll pass along the message.". Man: "Better yet, tell him to come out here so I can tell him he sucks". Brandi maintained her composure, apologizing once more and asserting that the sandwich was prepared correctly. Frustrated, the guest asked for the sandwich to be taken away, causing further discomfort to those around, including his wife and other patrons.
Eventually, the gentleman left the restaurant. Due to Primanti Bros not showing UFC fights, I decided to relocate to Buffalo Wild Wings to continue watching the contest. To my surprise, the same disruptive guest was there, displaying the same obnoxious behavior. It was evident that the service he received at Primanti Bros was far superior, as he frequently had to stand up for beverage refills at Buffalo Wild Wings.
I must commend Brandi for her exceptional customer service and professionalism in dealing with such a difficult situation. The unruly guest likely tipped poorly, if at all, and his behavior was entirely unacceptable. Brandi did everything within her power to address the issue, despite it being beyond her control. This incident was one of the most troubling customer interactions I have witnessed in Hagerstown, and Brandi's efforts deserve...
Read moreMy experience at the Pittsburgh location in Market Square was absolutely amazing, so it was only natural that I would be excited to find another Primanti Bros. on my travels.
Unfortunately I was hugely disappointed.
When we walked I saw many, many open tables, yet the hostess told us the wait would be 30-45 minutes. The wait time was not an issue initially, but the hostess' attitude was. When we walked in, she basically told us the wait time is 30-45 minutes in hopes of us leaving. It seemed like she was trying to drive away business.
We shrugged it off and decided to go to the bar for a drink while we waited. However, my wife asks if she even took our name, which she didn't, so I had to go back to the host stand and put my name in.
Yelp allows customers to see their place in line at this location. We were 6th in line. 20 minutes pass and our place in line doesn't change, but many patrons have left at this point. The hostess doesn't really seem to care that many people are waiting at this point, but no new tables are being sat.
Side note: I saw a Dasher who works for Door Dash at this location. He waited at least 10+ minutes. If you're a Dasher, I highly recommend you don't accept this location as a pick-up destination.
After waiting awhile, my wife asks to see the manager. The manager never comes but we "magically" get sat even though Yelp says we're 5th in line. Someone told the hostess to seat people since everyone was waiting, and many tables were empty.
Finally we're sat down and order our food. Our appetizer of fried pickles comes out, but it almost looks like a double order? We ordered 1 order, but have never been to this location, so we didn't question it. They were amazing by the way. More on this later.
Our sandwiches come out and they look and taste great. However, the fries it came with seemed frozen and microwaved - way different than the Pittsburgh location.
Once we're done, we get the bill and realize we WERE double charged for the pickles. The server misunderstood the order (but it's okay, the server was very nice and understanding).
Overall, if I was ever in this area again, I wouldn't want to come back to this location. Our server was great and the food was great, but the kitchen and staff all seemed flustered and unorganized. I don't necessarily think it's their fault however, honestly I imagine this all comes down to management and how they handle this location.
If you can, go to the location in Pittsburgh in Market Square for the true Primanti...
Read moreHad dinner here late night Wednesday. It was well amazing a restaurant was open till midnight as we were having a late night. The food was awesome. The waitress Tiffany had great energy. When our order was a bit mixed up she had them fix everything and it was perfect. The only bad thing for me was the volume. Not many people as it was late but the music was like nightclub level loud. I have sensory issues so I thought it might just be me, but the rest of our party of 6 said it was crazy loud. Like we had to yell to hear each other and I had to get the wonderful waitress to come close next to me to order. The bonus was I paid $1 to play a favorite song on the digital jukebox, but the volume was the only bad issue. The food was delicious, plentiful, and not too much of a wait. I had no idea what to get so I asked the waitress and the sandwich she picked was super tasty. Highly recommend the big pickles that are $1 and massive! I got the funnel cake fries too and they were my favorite part. The 3 of us got appetizers, entree, dessert, and drink and our total bill was $111.25. So not too bad considering we ate till full and left with lots of tasty leftovers. If the music volume was even a little lower it would have been 5 stars all over. That being said if you have sensory issues I might do take out. I enjoyed myself and was there with family but if I had been alone I would have bad to go elsewhere as it was...
