When I placed my order the cashier got it wrong. It was a deliberate act to overcharge me, in my opinion. Unfortunately I know math. Then I had To ask the young woman to correct it twice because she couldn't figure it out. In the meantime they served my food and it was getting cold. Their pork barbecue sandwich is very good, and I would rate it about an 85 out of 100. The only barbecue sauce that is the one I consistently enjoy is labeled texas. I typically enjoy their sides, but at this location I found them watery and skimpy on the serving size. I do find that the quality varies quite a bit store to store at different locations. The stores in Maryland always seem grossly over-staffed to me. The atmosphere is casual which I like. I also like the fact that the furniture is heavy duty and there's always plenty of napkins. It wouldn't take much to dramatically improve things there, such as making sure that the food is served hot, filling up the food containers and reducing water content in the side dishes. The serving sizes should be larger by simply filling them to the size of the container. And some of those barbecue sauces are downright terrible, while other ones aren't bad at all, so I would reduce the selection of barbecue sauces or make them higher quality. And the cashier has to have intelligence sufficient not to incorrectly charge the customers at all. The employees are trained to be friendly, which I like. And the place is relatively clean, another positive. They have a good quality product, and I enjoy their pork barbecue: they give a good proportion on the sandwich. I visit many of their stores because in Maryland. But they desperately have to get rid of the number of employees in their stores;there's just too many employees standing around doing nothing. I think the store in Westminster Md is a little bit better than the Frederick MD location, but I find that they serve the pork in Westminster lukewarm or cold which I do NOT like at all. It is a clean store and I do like that very much. It's worth the trip, but understand that the store is not as good as it could be. It is worth patronizing, in my opinion, because the pork barbecue sandwich is pretty good, Along with the baked beans and the collard greens. Skip the french fries because they have the skins on them, Is my advice. To the credit of of store management, specifically Brandon Demers, he did offer an apology and business remediation. So I am hopeful that they will make changes for the benefit of all customers. I do eat there several times a month and only offer my constructive feedback to the companies I like and continue...
Read moreMy Daughter and I had lunch at the Valley Mall, Hagerstown, MD location on Sunday, March 3. We eat here frequently and the food and service are ALWAYS amazing; however, the service on this particular visit hands down was the best service I have ever experienced at any business.
When we arrived, Logan took our order. First, he asked if this was our first visit, and when we said we eat here all of the time, with a huge smile, he said "Well, welcome back". He went over various items on the menu and made recommendations. He had a wonderful attitude. I asked him when they would offer the Prime Rib Black Plate again (by the way, the best prime rib I have ever had in my life, just FYI). He described how the Black Plate items work and advised me to go on to the website and recommend this as an item to add to the menu permanently. In addition, he asked if we were aware of the "free chow on your birthday". When we said no, he handed us a card with a link to sign up and explained that once you sign up, you get a free sandwich on your birthday. Thank you Logan for such outstanding customer service.
Once we got our food, we then met Andrew working on the floor. This young man was impressive. He walked to each table, asking customers how their meal was and if they needed anything else. He cleared the tables off, as customers finished their meals. He opened doors for every customer as they left the restaurant and smiled the entire time. What impressed me was that this young man memorized customer names and referred to the customers by name. I have never seen anything like it, in a service environment. Every business needs an Andrew. You could tell that he took his job extremely seriously and he genuinely cared about making his customer's experience top-notch.
It is really difficult to get good service or good food anywhere these days. I felt so compelled to leave this review and let others know how great of an experience you will have at this establishment and to let management know that you truly have some outstanding employees.
Thank you for making our day and we will see you again very soon! Keep up the...
Read moreThis place is.. AMAZING!!! My husband and I stopped at this lovely restaurant on our way home to Texas. After being on the road for weeks, we were craving some REAL barbecue. I love bbq, don't get me wrong, but hubby LOVES it on a whole different level. Not surprising since his family's been in Texas before it joined the Union. The man cut his first tooth on some good Texas barbie. The sliced brisket was full of delicious flavor, tender, moist...but NOT fatty...HOLY COW! The sides were EXCELLENT and Jamie, the manager, who came out to check on us (how's that for hospitality???) told us that they prepare the meats, sauces, sides and salads ON SITE... AND as if that weren't enough....it was all very reasonably priced! But wait, there's more...the food was ready before we could finish reading the descriptions on the 6 different bottles of barbecue sauces (ie. Texas, Memphis, KC etc) that were sitting at our table. In fact, we would bet good money that if you plopped this little gem in the middle of the Texas hill country, all the bbq joints around it would have to up their game...FAST!
Quick note, we almost passed this little restaurant up when we saw it was attached to a mall...However, it faces the parking lot for easy access and provides ample parking for this popular establishment. We are delighted we didn't! Give it a try...you'll be glad you did!
Thanks, Jamie! Keep up the GREAT job! Next time we're east of the Mississippi, we'll be...
