Found a cool spot at the end of the A concourse when early for a flight. Sat down and placed an order. Iâd tell you the bar tenderâs name but she didnât greet anyone with it. No, smile, no name, no suggestive selling. Cold as ice. She did pay attention to her phone đ¤ˇđťââď¸ Identifiable only by a 10mm mole over the left maxilla. Later found out her name is Amy.
I ordered a Makers Old Fashion, which came in a topped off short glass with a 2 part pour, a standard maraschino Cherry, a half orange wheel, and standard ice cubes. When delivered, she tapped the computer and stated âdouble makersâŚ,â to which I playfully replied âa double!â âYeah, you ordered an old fashion, donât you know what you orderedâ with no playful or warm follow up. Anytime I asked about food or whiskey, I was met with a curt reply.
Iâm from the South, and Amy I grew up in the service industry, too. Youâd do well to greet people with a smile, at least. If you were a professional, youâd remember names, not seat numbers. I was 45, for your reference.
You arenât good enough to be a snot to guests, Amy. Maybe if your Old Fashion featured gourmet ice or full ice balls and Luxardo cherriesâŚbut they didnât. Lay off the cocaine, and try being nice to people, Amy. She also spoke in a disparaging way about other guests when they left.

Read moreI had a disappointing experience at R&R Seafood Bar in BWI Airport. My flight was delayed, so I decided to sit at the bar to pass some time. There were about 25â30 stools, and only one other person was seated â the rest were completely empty.
The bartender came by and said âGood morning,â which I returned. She mentioned they had just opened, handed out menus to the empty seats, and asked if I wanted a beer or drink. I politely said, âNo thank you.â She immediately replied, âWell, youâll have to order something if you want to sit here.â
I could understand enforcing that policy if the bar was crowded or busy, but it was basically empty
If she had said something like,
âYouâre welcome to hang out, but just a heads-up, if it starts getting busy we may need the seats for customers ordering food or drinks,â â it wouldâve come across much more professional and respectful.

Read moreJoined my colleagues at the bar to sit and chat while we waited for our flight. Went ahead and plugged my headphones into an outlet so they could be charged for my flight. Waitress took an immediate turn towards me told me I had to order something or else I canât sit there. The entire bar was empty excluding 5 patrons out of the 20-25 seats. I questioned it and she told me thatâs the rules. Why is there an issue with someone sitting down and socializing at a bar that has so many empty seats and no one around? Didnât even bother trying the food or drinks, if you canât be a decent human being and allow people to just sit for a moment, you shouldnât be in a...
