Was recently at Sardi's and purchased food to go. I ordered a Greek Salad and half a chicken and two desserts. Upon leaving I noticed that I didn't have any dressing for my salad or did they ask if I wanted any. When I approached the counter I asked the young lady for Ceasar dressing she hesitated and just looked at me then handed me a small dressing. I had bought a large salad so I asked for one more well she just stood there looking at me like I was doing something wrong. So I took my salad out and showed her that I had a large salad so I could get another dressing. I have to tell you that this is very upsetting. Why should I feel uncomfortable to ask for dressing. I just spent over 40 dollars for a salad and half a chicken and two dessert well I got charged for three. Please tell the workers if people ask for dressing give it to them just don't get a attitude with us. Its dressing and I paid for it. I will not go back there ever again. Also the lettuce was brown they just put new on the top cucumbers were slimy just horrible. The energy there is extremely uncomfortable. I shouldn't feel uncomfortable to ask for something. But to get a look and a attitude well i think it's time to retrain your staff on what customer service is. I have been in the food industry most of my life and have never been like this. Plus I wanted to order ceviche mixto and they only had fish. Sardis get it together. Plus the food doesn't taste like it does in gaithersburg. GIVE PEOPLE MORE THAN ONE DRESSING FOR THEIR SALAD. Plus the little cups you put the dressing in isn't even full. Seriously a upset...
Read moreDelicious! First time having Sardi's and will definitely have again. I did a Doordash delivery so I can only comment on the food itself, which was excellent! Chicken tasted so good! Perfectly flavored so well. It truly reminded me of the outside summer cookouts where you get it fresh off the grill.
The beans and rice also had delicious flavor and texture. The fries were the only thing I thought were not so good. I hate to say they tasted like an undercooked bag of frozen fries you can get in the freezer section of your local grocery store. But they give large portions of everything so all the other food I had to eat made me not really mind the loss.
I also got the bread pudding, which was amazing. Truly loved it. Extra moist and the sauce they used over it was delicious!
Speaking of sauce, when ordering (online) I had trouble figuring out what sauce to get with my meal because they are only labeled by color. I had to guess and assumed red was super hot, yellow might be medium and green was mild, and white was a mystery. I got the white sauce and the yellow sauce. They were both REALLY good. The yellow is hot, to ME. I loved the flavor but couldn't handle the heat. The white sauce was also REALLY good and it's mild. Best way I could describe it is a mix of mayo and ranch but MUCH better flavor with their own spin on it.
If you've never tried this place definitely give it a chance. If you're a regular, keep going back...
Read morePollo Alla brasa has popped up in all three localities I frequent these days. A trip to Sardi's in Hagerstown today (July 5) was the first time I've tried it.
A lot of people took off work today for a long weekend. Sardi's was busy at 1:30 pm, but not too busy: about half of the tables were occupied. I ordered and got my "lunch special" without waiting. It's a cafeteria style place, and the staff keeps it moving. The staff, incidentally, seem to be exclusively Latino, which leads me to believe that Sardi's version of pollo must be authentic.
Pollo Alla brasa is wonderful. My sides (Peruvian rice and Caesar salad) were good too. More than enough for around $15, including drink.
They provide sauces they say are spicy. I like my vindaloo full strength, so they're merely a bit zippy. If you want really spicy, there are bottles of habanero sauce on the table. Add at your own risk!
The only problem today is more my fault than Sardi's. Only once in my lifetime have I ever had chicken breast that was moist enough. Sardi's provides the sauces- these compensate very well for a bit of dryness. I've had much drier chicken breast at places twice as expensive.
The restaurant is clean, and parking ample. Definitely worth a try, especially if you think chicken is...
