Mexicali Cantina — Restaurant in Maryland

The food was great and the wait wasn't long at all. This was my first time visiting this restaurant in this area. As someone with over 540k views my reviews are honest and blunt. The food was great my only problem was the server. Hmmmm not sure what was his deal. Didn't catch the guys name but he had a very DEEP voice! Everything went well UNTIL it was time to pay for the food. The server was told to bring change back and in fact was told how much of the change his cut was for a tip. After waiting at the table for over 14 minutes, I started to head out. It certainly does not take 14 minutes to bring change back. In fact the purposely did it. It was obvious. After waiting that amount of time for the change I went ahead yo my car. I saw him peep out the door. I said " I'm right here" we made eye contact. So he precedes to walk to my car and had the AUDACITY to ask me "do you want your change?" He was already prev told what amount to keep for his tip. I gave a 20 so that was he could get the tip from what I told him I would be. I can't get over that after waiting a very long time he asked me if I wanted my change. I have never been so disappointed at any server. That was very pushy of him to do! It was then AGAIN explained the previous conversation if what he was to keep out the 20 dollar bill that was given to pay a small portion of the bill and his tip. He literally was trying to keep the change and a larger amount of what he was told. I'll visit again but this guy could never ever be my server again. You Don hassle someone out of a tip! You don't purposely make someone wait that long in hopes that they will just give up and leave. In the end yes he got to keep the wholeeeee thing. I just refuse to ever have him be my server again. Steer clear of this guy. Very unprofessional and long as he's there, I expect to see other bad reviews about him. What he did was horrible. Have some respect...

My husband and I went 3 times to this restaurant. The very first time was a great experience. The server and the manager were awesome and the food delicious. Unfortunately the second time, another server from another table came to check if we already order and immediately notice my husband's disability and she started to imitate my husband's limited mobility. That hurts and it is against the law because it is discrimination. Even with that, we didn't talk to the server anymore but with spoke about it to the manager so he can give her orientation. We returned last night because we taught everything was solved and the food is delicious. That was the last time going there and no more. This time the server asked us: "Where you from?" So we answered Puerto Rico. The server began to talk very disparagingly about our beloved island. Not only one time, but everytime he came back to our table was saying something bad about Puerto Rico. He does not have the right to make us feel like that and talk like that about our island, which is part of the United States of America. This lack of respect, discrimination needs to stop immediately. Don't go there if you have any physical disability because they make fun of that. Don't go there if you are from a place they had a bad experience with a particular person because they will disrespect your roots, culture and country. This is not a good place to go anymore. I used to enjoy going there on Saturdays but prices are definitely not worth it for the drinks. Not only are they watered down but they include gratuity on EVERY SINGLE DRINk. I usually like to open a tab and then give a nice little tip at the end depending on how drinks are made & taste. I ended up Paying 17.66 for 1 trashcan that tasted like Kool aid, it said 13.99 for the drink on the receipt and with gratuity added it to it ended up being over $17 dollars. I'm far from cheap but quality plays a big roll on what I'm willing to pay for drinks & $53 dollars for 3 drinks is insane. Service is slow, I had to ask for straws Everytime I received a drink and wait over 15 mins for them.. last drink I ended up walking to the side of the bar and stepping in just to grab my own straw and napkin. Both bartenders where more worried about taking video of the dance floor than trying to serve. Last few times I have gone to this place service has been horrible, I kept returning with hopes of a better outcome but unfortunately this will be my last.
