I give it 5/5
My girlfriend and I dined at Sitar of India and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Every aspect of our meal was deserving of a perfect rating.
Drinks: We began our meal with a Mango Lassi. For me, it was perfect – the right balance of sweet and creamy. However, my girlfriend prefers her lassi with a bit more tanginess. Despite this minor difference in preference, we both enjoyed it thoroughly.
Main Course: For my main course, I chose the Lamb Curry with Medium Spice, accompanied by aromatic basmati rice. The lamb was incredibly tender and flavorful, making it the best lamb I have ever had. The medium spice level was just right – providing that spicy kick I crave without being overwhelming. It was a perfect harmony of flavors and textures.
My girlfriend opted for the Butter Chicken, which also came with the same fragrant basmati rice. The dish was extremely flavorful, though I found it to be a little tomato-forward. Nonetheless, it was delicious and well-prepared.
We also shared a double order of garlic naan. In my opinion, one order of naan per person is ideal. The naan was a delightful mix of textures – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for sopping up the delicious curry sauces.
Service: The service at Sitar of India was impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and consistent, enhancing our dining experience.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere of the restaurant was fitting for the cuisine. They had Bollywood movies playing on the TV, which added a vibrant and authentic touch to the ambiance.
Overall, our dinner at Sitar of India was perfect. From the delightful Mango Lassi to the tender lamb and flavorful Butter Chicken, every dish was prepared to perfection. The friendly service and enjoyable atmosphere made our evening even better. We will definitely...
Read moreDO NOT tip your server in cash, or on the receipt. I have been told by multiple employees that the owner keeps ALL tips, and watches cameras to ensure that his servers don’t get any tips, including cash. If you want to tip them, ask for their CashApp. Otherwise, you’re just putting unearned money in the owner’s pockets, which is totally wrong.
I believe I’ve been to this restaurant four times in the past month. I would love to be able to go a few times a week. The food is exceptional, and very fairly priced. We’ve even brought people here who have tried much nicer (ratings-wise, and in big cities) Indian restaurants, and they all say this is the best they’ve ever had. I hate to sound basic, but I recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala; the sauce is to die for, and it’s one of the few dishes I’ll happily eat leftovers of. I also love the garlic naan, the fish pakoras (appetizer), and the meat samosas (appetizer). The customer service is also great, even if/though the owner is obviously trying to rob his servers of the ability to earn more for great service. I honestly feel a little sad when we go in on a Friday night and they’re not packed - not because we mind, but because the food is so mind-blowingly amazing that it’s shocking more people haven’t realized it yet, and given this restaurant the credit it deserves. Bottom line - one of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to. Try it. You won’t regret it! But don’t leave a cash/credit card tip unless you want it to go to the owner. Ask your server for their CashApp, at your own discretion, if you have the...
Read moreThe food is excellent! I order the same thing every time, Chicken Tikka Masala, but I've tried various other dishes when my spouse or a friend has ordered something different. The mango chicken is delicious. There's a fish entree that is divine. Also, their bread, any of it, is simply divine. My absolute favorite is the paratha, though. The rice is fluffy and fragrant. Everything is cooked to perfection, and I really feel like the chef and kitchen staff take great pride in their dishes. The food comes to the table more quickly than one would expect, and it's fresh, hot, and delectable! Spice levels are customizable - mild, medium, and hot. I'd say the heat levels are approximately congruent to a typical store-bought mild, medium, or hot salsa, so that may help you choose. Of course, you can go hotter if you like as well.
The service is top notch! Friendly servers and hosts attend to your drinks and water. They check on you unobtrusively, but they are also willing to exchange small talk if you are so inclined. They are knowledgeable about the dishes, and they will answer any of your questions.
The restaurant is clean and tidy. I only took a star off for the atmosphere, because the decor is slightly dated. I actually love it. I find it to be quite charming and comfortable.
