Well, we wanted to go somewhere different to eat, so since we hadn't been to the Hub City Dinner, we decided to check it out. Inside, it looks like your typical dinner and appeared to me to be clean. The menu was huge with items. I said to my wife that I heard that many chef's have said that a restaurant with a menu with a huge amount of options really doesn't have great food because that can't focus on quality. I consider myself Reuben Sandwich connoisseur and always get the Reuben where one is offered. So, I ordered the Classic Reuben with fries and the wife ordered the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with fries and covered with gray. We asked the waitress for well done fries, you know crispy, and even pointed at the dark brown table top and said they could be that dark. We received our meals and my Reuben Sandwich was down right inedible. The bread was not toasted, the Corned Beef was dark brown in color and half of it was tough and stringy and the rest was corned Beef jerky, hard and nasty. There was barely any cheese, sauerkraut, and maybe a teaspoon of thousand island on it. Not only was the fries not well done, they weren't even done and were mushy. Although I was hungry, I only was able to eat a third of meal because it was just that bad, all of it. My wife said that her Roast Beef Sandwich was good (there was a lot of gravy on it so I could not see the beef or bread), but said that the fries were under cooked and she only ate a few. A women, not the waitress, came over and took my plate away and could clearly see that most of the meal was uneaten. After we received our check we went up to pay and it was the same woman that picked up my plate from the table. See asked if everything was okay. I had told her that it wasn't the worst meal I have ever had but it was a close second, and told her my experience with the nasty meal. She did offer to take 50% of the bill but my wife and I are not like that. Were not looking for a cheap or free meal and insisted we pay the full amount. I advised her we just want what we paid for, a good meal. She then gave my wife a magazine and said that there take out menu was inside, no thank you. Well need less to say, I will not be back there to eat again as I don't want to throw good money after bad, again. I'm not trying to tell anyone not to go and experience Hub City Dinner cuisine, as I would not skip going to a restaurant on someone else's bad review(s), just passing along my experience. Go and experience for your self...but you were warned about the Classic Reuben and uncooked fries, though. I would have only given it only 1 star but gave it 2 stars because my wife said her sandwich was good. Good...
Read moreThe short version: The food was not good. The server and restaurant atmosphere were good.
The long version: My sausage links were soft and pink (so pretty much raw) in the center. Once we told the waitress, Kara, she immediately offered to fix it or replace it with something else, which I accepted.
The Philly breakfast wrap was bland/flavorless. They tried to make the onion carry the whole flavor. The cheese was kinda globbed throughout. Edible, but not very good.
French toast topping (Nutella, bananas, strawberries, and whipped cream) were very good. Fruit was fresh and crisp, and the strawberries were slightly tart. The actual French toast was greasy, had a texture like cardboard, and tasted like everything else on the grill.
The hashbrowns (shredded potatoes) were mushy. Kinda like latka cakes or mashed potatoes.
Eggs were good, no complaints there.
The bacon that was brought to replace my raw sausage tasted (again) like everything else that had been on the grill.
Coffee was okay, a little sour. The apple juice tasted like sweetened water. Maybe a concentrate that was watered down too much?
All in all, the server and hostess were extremely friendly and kind. Anything we brought up to them was rectified as best they could. They can't control the quality of the food. I didn't see the point in continuing to bring the bad up to them when there was nothing they could do to rectify it.
Everything that we could see was exceptionally clean. The place was well decorated. Maybe this place is better reserved for lunch or dinner because the breakfast is not good. It's a shame because we probably would have enjoyed the experience a lot more if the food was better.
The solution I see is to make sure your griddle is clean with designated spots for sweet, savory, and meat products, and maybe retrain/hire a new line cook for breakfast. I don't know what their situation is in the kitchen, but I do know we likely...

Me and my family (party of 16) come to eat here every few years because my uncle comes to town, and I absolutely love this place. Our waitress, Michelle, was the only person serving us, and despite our massive party, the food (entrees, appetizers, desserts, drinks, sides, salads, soups) was all served to us in maybe a 20-25 minute wait, which is incredible! The staff were very respectful and sweet, and very receptive to our needs, like if we needed refills for our drinks or extra sauces for our food.
They are not stingy with their food, especially their sides!! My side of fries was absolutely huge, and even as a pretty big girl I couldn’t finish half of my food and had to take it to go (not a complaint).
I got the Black Diamond Steak that comes with 2 skewers of shrimp, and I got a side of fries and a salad, and a crab cake. One of my shrimp skewers was a little over cooked, but because my party ordered so much food, it’s completely understandable. I’m also a little sick (which will definitely impact my sense of taste), but since I’ve been here before, and the food was great, I’ll give them a 5 stars for the food rating. My steak was a little chewy and I didn’t personally love it, but one of the people from my party ordered the same thing and they loved it!
I also got cake for dessert, which was so big and tasty! I didn’t have the chance to take a picture, but imagine one of the plates being literally filled with an entire slice of cake. It was very good and big, I will definitely order it the next time I am here. I got the yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my to-go box and was met with a heaping scoop of whipped cream.
Overall, this restaurant is definitely a great place to bring your family to have a nice outing or get together. I 100%...
