So the food was decent i have to admit. But the setting of dining was awkward. They barely came to check on us throughout our meal, they placed a lot of unnecessary items on our table such as two large cups completely filled to the brim with ice that took up about 1/10th of the table. Including the two can drinks and beer we had on the table, it was crowded. So anytime they brought food we had to awkwardly shuffle items on the table to make room. Than when the food was finally brought out in about 15 minutes, during which we had another customers child there come up to us not once, but twice when we were eating, their parent reluctantly came and got both times. So towards the end of the meal i finally had to get up and ask for take out boxes because i really did enjoy the meal, but they do not notice you while you are dining they never check up on you or see how the food is. Since I had to get up and get the boxes I let my wife pay and leave the tip, she did not really like their salmon dish or the service and was annoyed about being interrupted while dining with the kid, so she left about a 3 percent tip. On our way out while we were putting our kids into the car, i had what i presume the manager come up to specifically me (I had no idea what kind of tip she had left) and start telling that i made a mistake. I was like ok? I looked at the receipt and saw that the tip spot was left blank so i filled it out correctly then handed it back. As soon as he saw what I wrote down he started going off about “you dont do that this is wrong, you have to leave a minimum of” points to bottom of receipt “15 percent or you no deserve to eat here” he sighs then is like “we have to clean up after your messy kids and serve you!” That was when i became ticked off. I have recently moved to Maryland with my family due to being sent off to basic training, I and my wife were trying to feed our kids but they didnt want to eat (probably from being stressed out from the move)so they barely touched their food which was why i had to get boxes. The manage lied right to my face about MY children just about a tip? I did not want to dignify this with a response since it could not possibly get through his dense perception so i responded with “ok?” He walked away bumbling about how wrong we were and how messy my kids were. I wanted to slap his jaw, the man literally came out of HIS restaurant to criticize me THE CUSTOMER and my children because of a freaking tip that i did not even leave. All in all the food was decent, the service was terrible, would i go back? Absolutely not the manager has made it too uncomfortable to ever dine...
Read moreVisiting MD during the week and accidentally but happily stumbled upon this delightful authentic Thai restaurant on a Friday evening while shopping in nearby stores. I noticed most folks ordered takeout but decided to dine in instead of eating in my hotel room.
For my appetizer, I enjoyed the Hoi Ob Lemongrass- steamed 7 large New Zealand mussels in a flavorful infused lemongrass, ginger, and bay leaf broth. Absolutely worthwhile to drink to the last drop!
For my main entree, I ordered the Crab Pad Thai, level 1 spicy, another winner dish! Typically I order shrimp pad Thai dish level 2 because I like heat in my food but was cautious since this was a new restaurant for me. I was delighted to see this crab version/ option available here in MD. Generous portion including the crab, see huge plate picture below ( please excuse the already squeezed lime in the picture) and level 1 spice is true- mild. Next time when I visit, I will take it 1 notch up to level 2 spicy! 🌶
I was too full to eat the entire dish so I ended up happily taking it home for next day leftovers especially because I wanted to save room for my favorite dessert- Mango with sticky rice. Mango was spot on ripe and enjoyed with the warm coconut sticky rice.
Raymond, Assistant Manager at the restaurant was hospitable, taking time to talk to me and ensure that I enjoyed the various dishes. Looking forward to coming back and trying...
Read moreI have always had a decent experience eating at Thai Spice or ordering carry out. Today at 130pm, I ordered two papaya salads for carry out and asked for spicy fish sauce on the side. When I arrived, the gal that took my order said it would be another five minutes. I said “no problem, I’ll just pay now”. Then sat in a chair next to the carry out table. BTW, there was only one couple dining in that was finishing up their meal.
Approximately ten minutes later, the chef (older man WITH NO MASK!) angrily said I needed to move and wait at the front door bench. Shaking my head from his rudeness, fine - I did so...ten minutes later, I was growing impatient and asked the gal if my salads were ready. She said it was ready and brought it out. Thank goodness I checked. Ended up with dressing on the side and no spicy fish sauce. Not a big deal. I let her know that the lime dressing is fine in the salad. Just wanted spicy fish sauce on the side. ANOTHER TEN MINUTES LATER, I got my order. My patience was on a thread. At this point, there was no one left in the restaurant. To make it worse, the portions were so much smaller than normal. I do not blame the gal, it was a mistake that she apologized for...the chef was seriously taking his time on two salads and was extremely rude.
This was my absolute last time being a patron of this restaurant. I will no longer...
