The Original Chicken Box — Restaurant in Maryland

Saw the restaurant on google as a recommendation since I was in the area. The restaurant was nice and clean and the cashier was pleasant. The menu was inviting and I decided to order the 2 piece chicken (leg & wing) with waffle and 4 piece whole wing combo. When I received my order I saw that they don’t use the traditional flour chicken batter, it was similar to the batter used on fish like at Long John Silver. I bit into the chicken leg and it looked cooked but it was more on the pink side, I think because the batter cooks faster than the chicken cooks, they are unable to keep it in the fryer for long, preventing the chicken from fully cooking, which isn’t safe. As far as the the wings, they were HUGE, which was an immediate turnoff for me. I hate big wings, they are not visually appealing and they are never fully cooked then add on that batter, bad combination. I also didn’t like that my waffle was soggy as soon as I got it, I guess it was because of the plastic container. I was really hoping for a positive food experience but I was unhappy, especially for $15 a meal. What a surprise this was! My wife and I got the two different chicken sandwiches, one spicy one original and then I got some Korean barbecue wings I heard there’s a chicken sandwich war going on well if there is this place is winning. It was by far one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. The sandwiches are big. they’re pretty much a meal by themselves. And the wings, deep-fried and then rolled in the sauce of your choice, they’re not the biggest Wings Ive ever had but they are meaty enough. The fellow that works there recommended the banana Puddin. It’s not something I normally would go for put on his recommendation. I tried it. It made a fan out of me. It was almost like a sugar cookie crust at the bottom and thick banana pudding with chunks of bananas throughout. It was absolutely great. And the people working there, couldn’t of been lovelier. They truly made the dining experience, enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend anybody in the area or even out of the area to give this place a shot. You...

This place has excellent customer service every time I go. The food is always good and hot until today. I don't know if the chicken recipe has changed or not. It had a almost burnt taste mixed with some herbs that don't go well together. The chicken itself isn't burnt and Im not sure if its the oil but something is definitely different. I became really nauseous trying to eat one wing. I tried calling before writing this review but I didn't get a answer none of the times I called. To be clear again I have never had a bad experience with food here until today.

*UPDATE * I went back to the store today with the food that I didn't finish and explained my concerns. The gentleman at the register was polite and got his manager. The manager came out LISTENED to me and didn't take it as a personal attack. I was given new food that tasted how it usually does. The customer service here is top tier.
