I ordered a graduation cake for my son online on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 for a pick up date of June 4, 2021 by 12:00 pm. I called the store on Thursday, June 3, 2021, to confirm my order was received and the young lady I spoke with checked emails and confirmed receipt. On Friday, June 4, 2021, I arrived at the store around 1:10 pm to pick up the cake. When an associate finally was able to assist me, she checked the back in the kitchen for the cake. At one point, she said they were having issues/trouble locating the cake. She also asked me for my last name, wrote it down and went back to the kitchen. Then, she said the manager would be out shortly to speak with me to talk to me about what could be done. The manager came to speak to me and was looking on his phone for my email order. He found it, went to the back, and then returned to me and said they would need about 20 minutes to finish the cake. They could not locate the cake nor did they have a ticket for it, but now they needed 20 minutes to finish it. I told him I could not wait another 20 minutes because I had to get home to get ready for my son's graduation and my son had to be at school early. I said I would have to come back after the graduation to pick it up. This was such an inconvenience because we had plans after the graduation ceremony and had to delay our plans to pick up the cake. In addition, I did not receive an explanation of what actually happened nor an apology.
After the graduation, I went back to your store to pick up the cake. Two young ladies got the cake from the kitchen and showed it to me. It looked nice but it appeared the decorating was done in a rush. First, the "C" in "Class of 2021" was not completely visible. Second, the top trimming on the left side was not on the edge of the cake like the rest of the trimming around the cake. Third, the wording was not centered; it was written slanted. One of the young ladies said there was no ticket for the cake and asked if I had paid for it already. I told her I hadn't paid yet. Although I noticed these mistakes, I paid for the cake because my son requested to have a cake from there and I did not want to disappoint him.
Later, when we cut the cake it was fine until we got to towards the center of the cake. It looked like something went wrong during the baking process; there were more parts of the cake that were hard than moistly and fluffy. This cake was not worth the amount I paid for it and I am very disappointed! I sent them an email complaint on June 4th (with pictures) and no response was provided. I sent a follow-up email on June 8th and still no response. This is extremely poor customer service! I will not order another cake from Woodmoor...

My daughter and I went on a Thursday morning around 10 a.m. in August. Here's our experience:
I ordered two of the chocolate glazed doughnuts and my daughter got a raspberry macaroon. (Their macaroons are much larger than the bakeries in D.C.!) Each item was well baked and with balanced flavor and texture.
Service: Two women were working when we walked in. Despite a line, they managed it well. Each customer was served with efficiency and care.
Space: It's tiny and looks untouched from when it opened in 1954. If you grew up going to it as a child, all the memories will flood back.
Area: It's in the Woodmoor Shopping Center where you'll find a large parking lot and other shops like Santucci's Deli, Silver Spring Stage, and...
I am a long time customer and never had an issue before. However, in my recent visit, I was embarrassed by the three young servers/cashiers behind the counter. First, when I get in, there were customers ahead of me and I waited until it was my turn, but none of them asked for help. I moved forward and asked for help. I picked a cake I liked and asked the price . Unfortunately it was not in a good shape and I picked another one. When I asked about the price, one of the three girls told me it is the same as the previous one. I agreed, got a writing on it and when ready to pay, I am told it was $14 more than what I was told. When I question, she said it could be a miss communication. I was in rush and didn't want to leave without it. So I paid. When I asked for a receipt, I am told that the printer is not working and the cashier said she can give me a hand written receipt. What a joke! I hope things will get back to their normal...
