If I was able to give 0 stars I would! The place was not busy at all, even though it was right in the middle of lunch hour crazyness everywhere else in town. That should have been my first sign. We asked for a kid cup with a lid for my 3 year when we ordered our drinks. That should be automatic for someone this little but the server was a young guy and they do not always think about it. Our drinks cam out and he brought a glass cup with no lid (the same as what everyone had). Even thought I had asked for a kid cup. So again I said, if he drops this it will cut him, he needs a kid cup, oh okay was his response. We got our soups, salads and the cook had arrived.....still no drink for the little one. I almost wanted to let him make a mess just so the kids could see why little kids do not get cups without a lid but I did not want my son to hurt himself if it broke so I asked for a 3rd time. but this time my glass and my sisters along with the other party were empty or almost empty, I asked for a refill. He came back with just the kid cup. So I asked the pregnant lady and she took both my glass and my sisters, our server is the one who returned (probably because she told him) but only had one water and the other 6 people still had not been refilled. The onther party said they would not come back because they had asked if they could get in and out in an hour seeing they only had 1 and half hour break and they had to still drive back to Scotts but it took us a total of 1 hour and 20 min. they were not pleased. We were not in a rush so that part did not bother us.
But if you are in a hurry and want drinks do not come here!!!! On to my last complant, I know this is not a House of Japan, that place is amazing and you have to go to Dublin or Polaris to get there (in hindsight would have been worth the drive)
We were given a reagular menu and a lunch special menu.
the regular saifd that lunch included soup, salad, fried rice, veggies and noodles was 9.95 (for the chicken dish) but the little card said that lunch included soup, salad, veggies and steamed rice (with the option to pay 2 more for fried) NO noodles for $9
I asked the server if I had to order from the card, he said no it was just a special. I said right off the bat, why is it specail, it cost mosre to get less. He said I could order from the regular menu.
While the chief was cooking I saw no noodles being cooked (my sons favorite) and asked when he broght back just the one refill ( I know beating a dead horse) he said I ordered the regular one let me see. and came back (still with out my sisters water!!!) and said they changed the menu yesturday and dont serve noodles at lunch and you have to pay extra for fried rice. Would have been nice to know while order because we would have left and drove to Dublin. Where the prices and cheaper, the food is better, and the portions are larger. This is a lazy mans Japanese Steak house. They put such little effort into this. I will not be back, but hopefully when they go under a better place will buy out a nice building set up and ready for a...
Read moreFirst off let my prefice this my saying my experience at yamato was truly one of a kind. What do you look for when you go out to eat? The answer will surely vary from person to person. A few things we can all ageee on is Friendly introduction, exemplary service and an atmosphere in which you can enjoy your food and converse with those you chose to endulge in your given meal. All of those were met...and some. Yamato is a unique experience, both casual and articulate in the way in which the environment around you is perceived. The serving staff does exactly what their job entails. Not only are they friendly but I feel as if they genuinely cared about my dining experience. This is something many establishments often lack in their serving staff. The hibachi cooks are unique in their own. Highly recommend if you have kids to sit in the hibachi. I did not experience this my self but have witnessed their altruistic manor in which they handled children. If you are looking for a place to honor the craft of the ever famous Sushi than look no further. The sushi at Yamato is unrivaled by any other of its kind. It simply is in its own dimension, one that is not parrelel to our own. Comparing to any other establishment would be unjust. I would like to conclude this review by thanking the staff and everything that went into making my dining experience something special. The owners are very kind and involved in their restaurant. This is something many successful restaurant owners should strive to abide by. If you read this review in its entirety than you know this is a must visit location, no matter...
Read more**UPDATE: I am updating my review to 5 stars. Tomi was our chef again, and again amazing! I brought my sister and her husband, and when her shrimp didn't taste quite right the owner(?) Gracefully apologized and offered chicken as a substitute. I very much appreciated that. Most people would argue or be rude, but she was not at all. Tomi is amazing and our waitress was so friendly. Everything was perfect this time and the gyoza was fried to perfection. This is the only hibachi that fries their gyoza and it is the best ❤ Thank you for providing us with a great experience. **
The show was amazing as always, even better this time with Tomi as our chef. However, it did take longer than usual to cook everything so when everything was finished our noodles which were done first had gotten cold. We had never had that problem before. Also, he had the veggies under a bowl on the grill the entire time (I'm assuming because the family dining with us had very special veggie order and were being picky, so everything was separated) so when they were the last thing given to us, they were completely mush. This was so disappointing as the veggies are one of our favorites. The onions and zucchini had no crunch left at all. The mushy texture was awful. Of course the show was wonderful and we'd be back, but it seems the longer the show took the more the integrity and quality of the food was sacrificed. We love this restaurant and always come here and we didn't want to complain. But we spent $70 and wished this time maybe we had gone...
