There's something about this burger that makes it pretty good compared to other burger joints. Could it be the way they seasoned the burger while cooking it up? Could it be that bun? Or perhaps it could have been the ingredients? I became curious about the place during my search of great burger joints in the area and I stumbled upon this place... 25 Burgers. I thought the name was funny itself, but I guess 25 is better than one burger, so I decided to give it a try (with some friends!)
The first thing I'd like to mention, before the food, is the decor - it caught me by surprise because it... sorta looked like a heavily-decorated Five Guys Burgers & Fries restaurant. It was shockingly similar, but it had a lot of old-time framed black & white photos of the entertainment of years past. Their colour scheme - red & white - scream something too familiar with Five Guys. It didn't drive me away, but it was a bit of a shocker because I didn't think another chain would look so similar.
I tried the Mushroom Swiss Burger, which is basically an Angus Beef Burger, Sauteed Mushrooms, Swiss Cheese and Mayonnaise between the bun. Unlike Five Guys, it seems like they're not using egg buns, but I can't put my mind to what it is (since I'm no culinary professional.)* I will say that the way they seasoned the meat gives it a nice, somewhat-salty taste to mix in with the mushroom and THEN the Swiss Cheese. Think of it this way: the taste is legitimate and the burger is done right. To me, however, I have to say that there's not enough Mayo to drown a little bit of the salt-like taste that is brought by the seasoning of the beef.
I also tried their special (as it seems) funnel cake fries. I can only say a few things about this, but the most important thing is: Why didn't people think of this earlier? Nicely fried and coated with sugar... I'd have it again, but I think I prefer fries with my burger. You know, potato.
Service here was pretty fast - nothing special to mention. Really, it's a more quiet place than I thought, so I can't say too much either. The only people practically making some commotion were those in my party... doesn't seem as social as they probably tried to make it look. Oh well, good to sit down and enjoy a burger, I guess. No problems with the people serving me and my party, so no bad remarks here.
I'll say that this all awfully looks and feels familiar to Five Guys Burgers & Fries, but it has its differences. The fact that it has more variety is a huge plus, but the fact that it's not a big whoop is a bit of a downer. I enjoyed the food I had there and it's definitely not just "some burger joint", but maybe a little more can be done to wow me. That's all I have to say to close the review.
Footnotes Maybe they ARE using egg buns, but not as moist as that of Five Guys for a really stuffed burger (which is...
Read moreWe typically order 2-4 times a month however after tonight we will never be returning or ordering. We wanted to support the fundraiser for a child in our community so when we got there we decided the long line would be worth it since it as for a good cause. I had to give up on getting our food after TWO AND A HALF HOURS. I have never witnessed that level of unpreparedness and it was a shame that when they realized they were unprepared they did absolutely nothing to rectify. There was nothing even close to anything resembling a standard operating procedure and the owners and managers should be absolutely humiliated by the way tonight went. They should also be matching donations since there were so many canceled orders and they turned people away well before closing. The first time I went to check on my order after 1.5 hours I was told that it was being worked on so I decided to continue waiting. After more than two hours I went check again and they had no updates and didn’t know if it was even started so I asked for a refund. It was truly mind blowing how unorganized it was. When you ordered they didn’t ask for a name or provide a number so I gave the cashier my name to be able to identify my order. The poor kid working expo had to hand out food by reading some names, some numbers or just reading every item. They were encouraging people to cancel their orders and I’m almost positive as they canceled the orders they weren’t pulling the ticket from the lines because the only orders they seemed to be calling were canceled ones that they were handing out to anyone who wanted them. By the end of the night there were 10-15 people who had been there for hours and instead of being prioritized, the employees continued walking in circles getting nothing accomplished. There were two people back there dressed in regular clothes so not sure if they were owners or managers, but they were doing absolutely nothing and it was insane to watch them not even try to help their staff. Also good luck with the registers- they were giving cash refunds for card payments. We’ll miss our usual orders from there, but they don’t deserve...
Read moreIf I could give this place less than one star I would. I was sharing a milkshake with my 7 year old daughter, by my second sip I felt something pointy and strange in my mouth. As I pulled out the object I noticed it was glass. When I confronted the manger about this so they can pay more close attention and be careful with how they serve their food, the manger got really upset. He asked to see the object noticed how sharp the object was and threw it on the ground saying it wasn’t glass, it’s garbage. He insisted that they don’t use glass in the back that it could’ve been plastic from my cup but my cup was completely intake and very bendable whereas the sharp object wasn’t bendable. I asked for him to give me the object back and he refused to give it to me as to him it is garbage. He never apologized to me about this nor offered a refund or to make me a new milkshake as to resolve the problem. I was in shock of service since my young child could’ve drank out of this. The cops were called because of how it escalated and the manger was clowning me to them. It wasn’t till the officer told him To give me a refund that he did and at that point he mocked how it’s only “$4.00”. They also mocked the officers and asked “Do you guys want a milkshake too? Without glass though?”. This wasn’t about the money but the cleanliness of when they serve food hence why I didn’t ask for a refund immediately. My intentions was to bring awareness of this so it doesn’t happen to anyone else but the management turned around and treated me so nasty and...
