While the staff are friendly, the hotel itself is in desperate need of renovations. The ceiling in the elevator is missing, leaving the light bulbs etc exposed, when you reach the floor, it is rather jarring, the room keys were extremely finicky (they require just the right 'swipe speed' so it took a few tries to get into the room every time), the room itself is lackluster (the bathroom door is painted brown to look like a wood door), the phone label was peeled halfway off, and that was all within the first 10 minutes of checking in. We dropped our stuff off, and left to run some errands. When we got back later and decided to go to bed, we pulled the sheets back on one of the queen beds to reveal several large orange/red splotch stains on the down comforter part (which is only sandwiched between a flat sheet and a top blanket rather than contained in a duvet or anything). They were right up by the head of the bed, so they would be in your face when sleeping - something that should have been seen by housekeeping if they had actually made the bed and/or changed the sheets...which opens a whole can of worms I don't even want to begin to consider. At this point it was very late already, so while we could have gone down and asked for a new room, we decided we would just wait and deal with it in the morning, and slept in the other queen bed. Or I should say, intended to sleep. At about 1:30 AM, someone was loudly going up and down the hall, and the room next to ours decided that was the time to watch tv on top volume. We turned up our sound-masker app on our phone, and went back to sleep. Until 4:30 AM when someone decided to put some stuff out in the hotel dumpster literally right below our room window - screeching banging metal, you get the idea. We went back to sleep but not for long. At 5 AM we were both jerked awake by the sound of something large falling in the room, banging the wall as it came down. It was the dome light cover for the entryway light in our room, and upon further inspection we noticed it had only been held up by scotch tape. We went back to bed, and at this point, thoughts of a new room were quickly turning into thoughts of a new hotel. That idea was solidified when at 7 AM a dump truck showed up and starting emptying all the dumpsters for the hotel. By the time they finished with the banging and screeching metal (which was about 15 solid minutes), we had decided to find a new hotel. During that time also, we found that the water never got above lukewarm, even after running the tub spout and sink on full blast and on the hottest setting for at least 5 minutes. When we went down for breakfast and to tell the front desk about our experience and why we were canceling the rest of our reservation, they said they would have to charge us a cancellation fee unless the manager did an override in the system. Of course, the manager wasn't coming in till after 10 AM (on a Friday mind you), but we had an appointment to get to so she took down our information and said she would have him call us when he got in. At about 1 PM we finally got a call from the manager who was quick to point out that most of our complaints could have been remedied by asking for another room, and he has no control over when the dump-trucks come. I explained that while yes, some could be remedied by moving to another room, we had no faith that another room would be cleaner or that every other light in that hotel was not also held up with scotch tape, and another room would not help the lack of hot water either, all of which were why we were checking out early. (He also made the comment, in regards to the stained comforter "Oh, someone's getting fired regardless! I'm just saying you could have asked for another room, and you chose not to." I said, yes, because it was late and we did have another bed to sleep in, so we thought we could just deal with it in the morning. He tried emphasizing that we had waived some right by choosing to deal with it later, but I stood my ground.) He said he would wave the early check out fee, but in a way that sounded as if he was doing us a huge favor. I explained that was actually a given, and we wanted a discount on the room itself since we didn't even get to sleep through the night. In the end, he gave us a 15% discount, and thankfully we didn't have to go back to 'check out'. That is the best compliment I can offer this particular Comfort Inn. I will never ever...
Read moreStayed 4 nights at the end of May 2024. Got the impression that the owners are very cheap and care more about lining their pockets than supporting a business. Place was more like an overpriced, cheaply run motel with a hot breakfast than a hotel. I would only stay again if the price was inline with the Charlotte motels’ prices. It was run down. Dirty. Fire and electricity hazards in the rooms. Don’t bring kids! Not maintained. Everything seemed to be broken; ex. Lamps (light bulb socket was hanging from the place where it was supposed to connect, wall sockets were hanging out of the walls, 6 socket outlets are placed into the two socket outlets and one had black burn marks from what appeared to have been an electrical overload/burn, waffle maker didn’t work right, one refrigerator made a very loud buzzing noise and the next one froze everything in it without an option to change the temp. Iron board and cover were worn down and need to be replaced. Iron left brown dust on my clothes when I first started using it. Top/third floor was so musty and stanky that it seemed like the roof leaks, or used to leak, and the damaged structures were never removed. Tried two rooms on the 3rd floor but couldn’t handle the loud buzzing refrigerator and terrible smells. Moved to a 2nd floor room, which was better. Still a little old and stuffy smelling. Ceiling in 2nd floor’s bathroom appeared to have had the mold painted over. The caulk along the shower was a mess. The entire toilet lifted off the ground when sitting on it and getting up. It looked like a newer toilet that wasn’t installed properly. Walls were quite dirty. Shower leaked water all over because the ends of the curtain rod were so much higher than the center. Gravity pulled the curtain downward to the middle of the rod. Tub drained slowly and resulted in a foot bath. The breakfast options were okay but the environment wasn’t inviting. The breakfast attendant pulled all of the food at exactly 9am, not a second after, and on one day, turned off the TV at 907 to tell diners to leave….even if the place was packed. (I don’t blame the attendant. Based on all that I saw there, i would guess that her methods were directed by management as a form of cost saving.) The teflon coating on the waffle maker needs to be replaced and is in such bad shape that none of the waffle comes off. The mostly cooked waffle splits into two and sticks to each waffle plate, and then it breaks and rolls into a ball when trying to remove the stuck sides. (Lots of nonstick spray was applied to each waffle plate but it t didn’t help.). Best parts: The front desk workers are professional and pleasant. Reg and decaf coffee and tea with multiple creamer and sugar options, and lemon water in the lobby all day. The breakfast attendant was constantly replenishing food and cleaning…up to 830am. After that time, you get what remains. The beds were comfy. The pool area was nice looking and stocked with towels. The location was convenient to everything. My car wasn’t broken into. I had plenty of towels. No wet dog smells, fleas, or bed bugs. Saw pest control spraying the interior hallway early on a...
Read moreThe staff is kind and helpful. The breakfast was much better than expected. I have 4 issues with this hotel. The first being that the pool was down during our entire 9 day stay. At no time during my reserving of or checking in to the room was I made aware of this fact and it's one of the reasons we chose this hotel. The second being that my daughter who is 17 was alone in the room and the smoke detector went off repeatedly, freaking her out. No one bothered to investigate. We were on the 2nd floor right next to the stairs that led to the lobby. she went down the stairs and the alarm could clearly be heard from the desk but no one was reacting. She reported the issue to the front desk and finally someone came up and removed it from the wall. It was replaced the next day. That feels like a safety issue on many levels. The 3rd being the cleanliness of the room. Upon our arrival it was overall ok, but under the sofa was disgusting with half a bagel and assundry other things. I reported it to the front desk and it was taken care of, but it shouldn't have happened. The last was another incident with house keeping. We left for several hours and returned to find out room in disarray, housekeeping had stripped our bed and cleaned the bathroom but there wasn't any toilet paper. We went down to the lobby with our lunch and ate there without issue. I had to return to work but my daughter remained in the lobby and after another hour the room still wasn't ready. Apparently the person working the desk addressed the issue with housekeeping in front of my daughter. The conversation was loud and unprofessional, making my daugher very uncomfortable. These are really all minor infractions overall. I understand that housekeeping shortages, lack of a maintenance staff etc happen. However they did overshadow what otherwise was a perfectly...
