*NOTE* - this review is solely for the burger truck parked next to the Thai food truck but still has the same Ae Thai Food name since the main red truck was closed at the time I visited on Sunday I rarely give <4 stars for a review, but this was without a doubt the most disappointing meal I’ve had on Maui GOOD: - the hurricane fries were actually pretty good and the only reason why this wasn’t a 1 star review BAD: - the chicken burger was terribly over cooked and dry since they used a frozen patty - the price for every menu item was pretty insane across the board (see pic). I paid $14 for the plain fried chicken burger which was pretty horrendous and $12 for the hurricane fries which were actually decent, but still way overpriced My advice is - do not have high expectations or waste your dime eating here. The ONLY excuse for this would be if you did the road to Hana trip on a Sunday like we did and arrived after everything closed which was around 5 PM in our case.

Stopped by this Thai food truck on the Road to Hana. We ordered the pumpkin curry soup, the crispy basil chicken with rice, and the garlic shrimp with rice. The menu didn’t have a ton of choices, but it covered the basics and had a few interesting options. The pumpkin curry soup honestly surprised me. I don’t usually like pumpkin and it didn’t sound that appetizing, but I wanted to try something different. It turned out flavourful and creamy, mixed well with the spices, definitely better than I expected. The crispy basil chicken was solid. Well seasoned and tasty, though not as spicy as I had hoped. It still paired nicely with the vegetables and rice. The garlic shrimp was the standout. Juicy, cooked deliciously, and packed with garlic flavor, easily my favorite of the three. Overall, the food was good and enjoyable, but the portion sizes didn’t quite feel worth the price but it’s still a nice stop on the Road to Hana.

I hate scammers. Food was excellent. Shows $22 on the sign for my meal. I brought 20 in cash. I order and say ill give you the 20 but i just need to run to my car to get you the other 2. She says oh its 25 with tax. I need 5 more. ???? I pay her the 5, get my meal, start eating. Look up hawaii tax rate ( which tax was included in all the other advertised surrounding food pricing boards) which is 4.5, realize that on 22 is little over 1 dollar not 3. Walk back up to the truck to inquire, i say how much is Maui’s tax rate to the lady and without a response she hands me back my 3 dollars. I knew she was scamming me and she knew it too. She was very pissy, like all the locals in Hana. They do not want us there and express it freely.

Ordered Bamboo Shoot curry with chicken and Pan fried mahi mahi with papaya salad to go. After waiting for over 15 min for my food since we were getting late for heading to Paiia, I went to ask the owner lady about the status of my order. She said that she had 4 tickets ahead of me. I decided to wait . When I was about to leave the window she said actually we are out of rice, do you need rice or can she give me papaya salad. I said I needed rice. She told the other lady inside the truck that he needs rice. I thought she will be making more rice. This is where things went downhill. The wait was never ending. Even the people who came after me got their food and after waiting 30 more minutes for food I tried to have a word with her. She closed the delivery side of the window on my face and ignored me. I went to the other side of the window and asked her what is the status of my order since we were waiting for so long. She was indifferent so I asked my money back. She said i already told you i was short of rice. Are you kidding me?!? You told me when I asked you the first time after waiting for my food for more than 15 min. You dont give salad instead of rice. If it was this bad she could have offered to substitute my order with some other dish that way available. She was extremely rude. She gave me cash back instead of refunding my card transaction but later when I checked my credit card transaction she charged me 1.12 dollar more. So I paid her for not getting my food. Such a terrible experience. People forget it's the tourists who bring business to them and make them popular. Anyhow..we turned around and went to another thai food truck My Thai and the food was amazing without any wait and the owner was...

Well this was a food truck, a Thai food truck that we spotted in our soul food trucks in there. You pulling a parking lot in circles right back around to the street and it's got a pretty decent amount of parking. There's about six or seven food trucks and one actual restaurant on the property.

I had the vegetarian curry which was mixed vegetables and rice, if it had tofu, would have been much better.

It came with Jasmine rice sauteed vegetables in a mild curry and it was pretty good. It very mild though. Usually when I get a curry dish, I want the dish to have a little bite to it.

But that's fine. It was different and I also got a Thai tea which pretty much tasted like all the other Thai teas but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

The prices are not too bad. This could be a little pricey if you're from the Midwest. Otherwise it's probably around a high end of average.

They have many dishes for regular meat eaters and only a limited few for vegetarians.

I'm leaving all this food is pretty good. I didn't see anyone frowning up a pushing their plates away when I sit down to eat out at the picnic tables.

Mile Curry and a vegetable veggie rice tie rice and then I...

First off I’ve never written a bad review. I only write reviews when I have something positive to say and I usually brush off even when I have bad experience, but this particular incident I was just treated poorly. I was ordering lunch for me and my boyfriend, and I asked the person who was taking the order the difference between drunken noodles and pad see yew. Then I decided to order drunken noodles and something else. When I got my food, it was pad see yew, not drunken noodles so I told her that. She goes “no you ordered drunken noodles. I was there.” I said “no I asked you about the difference between them because I didn’t know, but then ordered drunken noodles.” Instead of apology, she glared at me and took my food to put raw basil leaves on top and gave it back to me. At the time, I still hadn't received my boyfriend’s order so I was worried that she was going to do something to our food and didn’t say anything, but I was very disappointed with her attitude and lack of customer service. I would not visit again or...
