Arisu1099 — Restaurant in Mauldin

I normally only like to write really good reviews and unfortunately this one is a really bad one.

My family and I dined there this evening and it was literally so bad. We came here because it had almost 5 stars and we love to eat Korean food and have it often however this restaurant was a complete letdown. We ordered the steamed egg, seafood pancake, and beef Bulgogi dinner. The steamed egg was burnt on the bottom and around the bowl and you could smell that it was burnt and I have had a lot of korean steamed egg and this was the absolute worst. I am not a good cook and I probably could have done better to say the least which is sad. The seafood pancake was soggy but did taste okay with the sauce that came with it but still not flavorful like many other pancakes I’ve had. The beef bulgogi was bland.

At first, they brought out the wrong entree and we waited for 5 mins for a server to come by or even walk by but nobody came through so I had to get up and let them know. They then brought out the right entree and left the side dishes/banchan from the wrong entree as an apology but when we asked for refill on the side dishes that came with our entree they said they weren’t going to refill the first round for free like they normally would because they gave us the other side dishes for free so if we wanted to refill we would have to pay but it was their fault in the first place and they are the ones who left the side dishes as an apology so why is it counting as a refill? We have dined at many Korean restaurants and they offer complimentary side dishes refills.

Nobody came by to ask if we were doing okay or how was the food because we would have gladly let them know. Then someone just randomly drops off the check when we weren’t done eating. After we paid and they brought the credit card back to sign —- the best service received was when the lady rushed over to collect the signed receipt before we even left if you even call that service but she came so quick as if she was more interested in her tip than taking care of us as customers. I will say the only reason I gave 2 stars for the service is because they did offer my infant a baby spoon to eat with so for me as a parent that earned a few brownie points.

For a grand opening establishment this is definitely not...

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt I had to.

I had been here before and really enjoyed the food, so I came back last week expecting the same level of service. Last time, the side dishes were refilled without any issue. This time, I politely asked for a refill, and a staff member wearing a cap rudely told me I had to pay for it.

When I mentioned that I had received a free refill during my last visit, they just said, “It’s supposed to be paid,” with a sour expression and an attitude that made me feel completely unwelcome.

From what I’ve seen in other reviews, it seems like this isn’t the first time this particular employee has treated customers poorly — and honestly, it feels like the owner either doesn’t care or isn’t paying attention.

For the price you pay here, there are plenty of other places where you can enjoy a meal without being treated like a nuisance. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values...

We had a wonderful experience at Arisu 1099! This spot offers a perfect balance of traditional Korean flavors and modern flair. I had the Dolsot Bibimbap, and it was absolutely delicious—served hot and full of flavor. All the side dishes were plentiful, fresh, spicy, and deeply satisfying. The service was outstanding, the staff is genuinely friendly, attentive, and gracious. The entire place is super clean, well-kept, and welcoming. You can tell they put real care into both the food and the atmosphere. The lady who served us kindly explained that Arisu is named after the ancient Korean word for “great and precious water”. This restaurant truly lives up to its name by nourishing both the body and the spirit. The ingredients are top quality, the pricing is very reasonable, and the overall dining experience is memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this gem if you're looking for authentic and delicious...
