We always come here from the other side of town. Historically, they've had a high quality product. The rolls have lots of fish and aren't just balls of rice with tiny bite of seafood.
We ate at the restaurant last night, and I'm a little concerned where this business is going. There was a sign on the door that they weren't serving the full menu due to not having enough workers. First of all, if this restaurant were offering good wages, they would have no trouble retaining employees and hiring new ones. The owners/management need to get real. It's 2021. If you think you're getting good waitresses for $3/hr + tips, you need to rethink that. The same goes for the other staff. If you're trying to start workers at $12/hr, you're not going to have workers. Literal children can make more than that right now. Pay high wages and you'll have high quality employees. Pay bad wages, and you'll destroy your restaurant. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish.
Now, back to the food. The rolls were a bit messy, and the flavor wasn't great. None of this is surprising given that they don't have proper levels of staffing. We'll come back once more in a few weeks. If the situation hasn't improved by then, then we'll be looking for a new sushi place. There's no point in driving 30 min to get mediocre sushi, while supporting a business that doesn't pay a living wage.
Raise food prices, pay your employees more, and you'll fix...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe freshness of the sushi here is fantastic! I really enjoyed my meal at the Sushi bar. The only reason why I gave one star less of 5 stars has to do with custom attention. As Asian (Vietnamese) man, I found it a bit ironic that the Asian host/server/manager's wife seems a bit unwelcoming towards me. I am a very easy going person. I felt as if she was avoiding me. I felt more welcomed from the Sushi chef than that lady. I don't believe anybody like to feel like they are invisible. If you are a host/server and you choose to be attentive and cheerful to one customer, you should (try) to do the same for "all" of your customers. It is as bit of an odd feeling to feel ignored by a person of your own general origin. Hopefully, next time I won't walk away feeling that way. Please try to treat all of your customers, regardless of race, fairly. We are all paying customers. Thank you my Philippino Sushi chef & manager for welcoming me during my first time visit to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo the owners/managers: Since you now only have an automated menu online, it would be nice if you put full descriptions of what the dishes entail, ingredients, etc. instead of just the name. I vote for a pdf menu with full descriptions AND photos!
I come here occasionally and the dishes I get are consistent, fresh, and delicious. The same staff I see each time are absolutely delightful people! The prices are fair and there are lots of vegetarian items!
2025 Update: The kitchen staff should be aware that their dishes are becoming more grease-laden. Oil should be hotter and items flash-fried, rather than frying in grease for more than a few seconds. That's what saturates the thing you're frying with grease, and that's just unpalatable.
Same thing with the fried rice - there was FAR too much grease. Please ease off on the use of oil - especially these cooking oils that add no actual flavor.
As always, the service and staff are beyond compare:...
