Service has gone seem to go downhill since it’s transitioned from “Crave” to “Shasta Coffee Co.” I’m not sure if it has new owners or what, but it’s definitely not the same anymore.
For example, I sat at the drive-thru window for around 5 minutes before someone even acknowledged my presence. It doesn’t sound like a long time, but it really is in this situation. Were they open? Did the Barista see me? Is just the drive-thru closed? I could see someone moving around right on the other side of the window, but I wasn’t sure if my presence had been noted. And I really didn’t want to honk at them because it’s just so rude.
It wasn’t until I was just about to drive away (I assumed they must be closed) when the employee finally came to the window. She didn’t offer any reason for the delay, just quietly asked what for my order.
Please don’t misunderstand - I have no problem waiting my turn in line. I worked service jobs for a long time, I get it. I know what’s it’s like to be busy or short staffed. But, in this instance, any kind of acknowledgement would have gone a long way. A quick “I’ll be right with you,” or even a wave from inside would have let me know that a) they know I’m there, and b) they will get to me as soon as they can.
I don’t leave a lot of reviews, but I drink coffee from this location a few times a month. I just thought this was an interaction worth sharing with...
Read moreThis is my favorite coffee shop in Greenville. The baristas are friendly, welcoming, and eager to please. I get a typical drip coffee with oat milk, but I've had the lattes as well and they are wonderfully indulgent without being overly sweet. The pastries are on a whole 'nother level: Whitney makes just about everything in-house and you are missing out if you don't try one of the following: iced cinnamon rolls, blueberry lemon scone, bacon cheddar scone, or one of the many delicious danishes. Everything she makes is excellent. I've also asked her to cater smaller family events and in those cases she's made real buttercream cupcakes (my guests raved about those) as well as a selection of pastries for a baby shower I was hosting at work. She is an excellent communicator with a sense of urgency on these orders and I've been so happy with the final product and how it's been packaged. Shasta Coffee is a great coffee shop to get work done, study, meet your book club people, catch up with girlfriends, finalize a business deal, grab a coffee and a pastry with your kids on a day off - there are so many good spots in there to sit and be comfortable that will meet your needs....
Read moreI've gone to Shasta since they bought it from the previous owners. It was great at first, everyone was friendly and the food and coffee were great. Service was always a little slow, but as a former barista myself I always excused it because I know it's not the easiest job and everything else was great so I didn't mind waiting. I was in there every week sitting in to do work. However, lately when I go in everyone seems bored to be there. I wait forever for my drink even when I'm the only person ordering in store or in the drive thru. It always feels dim and dreary. The food is still pretty good, but the coffee is hit or miss. Some days it's okay and some days you order a dirty pumpkin chai and the first sip is pure espresso because they just poured the coffee on top and made no effort to mix it. Even once I got it back to the office and mixed it up myself the flavor was just weak and incredibly lacking. I don't usually like to leave poor reviews if I can help it, especially on small businesses, but Shasta has really gone downhill lately and I'm feeling it more and more now that I'm not there every week like...
