My recent dining experience at J Peters in Mauldin left me absolutely enchanted. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for an unforgettable meal.
Let's start with the stars of the show: the Hot Lava Shrimp and the Chicken and Pasta. The Hot Lava Shrimp dish was an explosion of flavor with each bite. The succulent shrimp were perfectly cooked and bathed in a tantalizing spicy sauce that left a delightful heat lingering on my palate.
Equally impressive was the Blackened Chicken and Pasta. Tender, juicy chicken breast nestled atop a bed of al dente pasta, all smothered in a rich and creamy sauce that danced with hints of garlic and Parmesan. Each forkful was a symphony of flavors that left me craving more long after the plate was empty.
Now, let's talk about those Honey Glazed Rolls. Oh my goodness! They were like little pillows of heaven, warm and soft with a golden-brown crust that gave way to a gooey, honey-infused center. I could have made a meal out of those rolls alone!
Aside from the exquisite cuisine, the ambiance of J Peters was also top-notch. The cozy yet elegant decor provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening with friends or a romantic dinner for two.
In conclusion, J Peters in Mauldin, South Carolina, is a culinary gem that deserves all the praise it receives. From the mouthwatering Hot Lava Shrimp and Chicken and Pasta to the irresistible Honey Glazed Rolls, every aspect of the dining experience was simply superb. Read moreHad dinner here tonight. This would be our 5th visit and by far the worst. When we entered, the hosts debated over which section to seat us in. It was ultimately determined we would be sat in the busiest waitresses section. She was very personable and kind. However, when we ordered we had a few special requests- no tomatoes on the salad, no chives on the mash, broccoli on the side. NONE of the requests were honored. Food came out, waitress didn’t seem to notice or care. My husband ordered the chicken Alfredo. He took one bite and looked at me like he was going to be sick. He said the chicken tasted like it was bad. He’s worked in restaurants for over 20 years. He knows bad chicken. The waitress said the manager would be taking care of it. He didn’t even want a replacement. We didn’t want a free dessert. Didn’t even mind paying for food we ate. HOWEVER- they literally still charged us for his meal. HE TOOK ONE BITE- AFTER HE SCRAPED THE STUFF OFF THAT HE HAD ASKED IT COME WITHOUT. They deducted $12 from our check. That’s it. No manager visit. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Completely ridiculous. Atmosphere was horrible. Everyone was focused on closing up shop- cleaning, shutting down stations. We won’t be visiting again. The last 3 times were questionable. This was icing on the cake. Don’t waste your time. By the way- good luck with that food cost. Salad portions were ridiculous. There was more parm on the salad than lettuce. My ‘Housemade’ hot bacon dressing came separate. Literally got a cup of honey mustard and the hot bacon stuff for me to mix on my salad....
Read moreI had a really terrible experience here with my brother, sister-in-law, and three-year-old niece. We went at 5pm on a Friday. Half the tables in the place were empty. Our waitress came by fairly quickly to order drinks, but we didn’t receive them for about 30 minutes. And this was the case with everything we requested. It took 20 minutes and multiple requests to get a straw for my niece. We were there for nearly two hours before we got our entrees.
Two of us (my SIL and I) had ordered filet mignon, medium. Both steaks were so undercooked, you couldn’t even call them rare. They were raw. We watched and waited for our waitress, and when we were finally able to flag her down, she seemed utterly unconcerned. By this time, my brother and niece had finished their meals. When we asked our waitress how long it would take to get our steaks back on the grill, she said, “I don’t know. We’re busy.”
The manager, a young woman who appeared to be in her early 20s, wasn’t much better. She was shocked that the steaks were so undercooked. And she was apologetic until we told her that we had lost our appetites, needed to get the 3-year-old home, and wanted the steaks taken off our bill. (Neither of us had taken a single bite.) At that point, her whole demeanor changed. She became snippy and sarcastic.
I understand restaurants are facing challenges right now, but the rudeness here was on a level I’ve never experienced before. It’s a shame because I live in the neighborhood and ordered takeout from there often after the...
