Well in town I had this crazy crazy taste for biscuits. I didn't want to go to a chicken place like Wendy's or KFC because it's just wasn't what my pallet was asking for. I must admit I didn't know exactly what it was asking for other than a biscuit. My girlfriend told me about this place Maverick. She said she's been wanting to go there for a while so we went. Walked in there's no beautiful decor nothing that strikes you in the face and says wow and that's exactly how I like it. Nothing extra fancy until you get to the kitchen. I truly didn't know what to expect but we were served immediately with the menu and the food came out. I ordered the shrimp and grits and as you can see from the picture what came out was not what I expected. The grits were soggy from the gravy that was placed on it. There was no way in the world I was going to eat this because it did not represent the South how I know it, your grits should have some type of consistency that is semi-firm. The good thing about this is once I contacted Michael I believe the young man's name was he apologized took the grits away and the entire plate was vanished. I did not have to look at it any longer and when he came back out along with another employee they separated the shrimp and sausage from the gravy and the grits which allowed for me the customer to place on the amount of gravy I choose on my grits which made me much more happier. I must admit those shrimp looked like they were swimming inside of the gravy on the first plate but everything was made right because Michael understood customer service. He gave us the idea that he was very concerned by listening to our complaint. He made no judgment as to whether or not we were right or wrong as to how this meal should be served he was just eager to make sure we left for the smile on our face. Once the second order came out as you see in the picture the grits were nice and firm and the shrimps weren't doing a backstroke in the gravy. Lol however the shrimp were not fully cooked they were raw but Alex the manager came to my table pulled up a chair and listened to our complaint he also looked at the shrimp and he too agreed it was raw and humbly apologized. He admitted that this was not acceptable and he was also very eager to get things right. Now I understand customer service you want your customer to be happy and satisfied so getting the plate out to me on the second go round to make sure I was satisfied I understood what they were trying to do. But when you're dealing with seafood it cannot be rushed.. The biscuit was exactly what I was looking for The grits were great with the gravy I could have just had grits and gravy and been happy That's how good it was. They had all different types of butters and jellies. I want to return but I was here only for a visit and I did tell Alex that I'm not interested in having a discount on my bill but that maybe the next time when I come by I can get an extra two biscuits if that's possible? Hopefully I'll see you guys again. I strongly suggest if you guys reviewing this are in the neighborhood check out Mavericks they aim to please and they are pleased when they aim and hit. You guys rock flavors like no other and one biscuit is never enough for the hungry person. Thank you for excellent...
Read moreLet me start by saying, the food is alway good. BUT if you’re going to give someone the title of manager, they need to have the experience and customer service of a manager. We ordered, sat, the food started coming out. My son (who I ordered for first at the counter) had a grilled cheese. All the food except his came out. 10 min later my husband asked where it is. The young man at the counter brought it out, apologized for the wait. The cheese wasn’t even melted so my son didn’t want it. I returned it, stating its not melted and he shouldn’t be made to wait even longer so asked for pancakes instead, to which I was told “well that’s going to take a minute because they’re thick.” Whatever, just make the pancakes bc he’s not eating this “grilled” cheese. He then tried to tell me I didn’t order for my kid to which I corrected him quickly and he was like “oh yea.” At this point I want the manager. He returns stating he IS the manager and the owner is on the grill. Mind you, there may have been 3-4 tables in the place. I asked did he not see the issue with the EASIEST order coming out 20 min after the other 3 dishes as it was CLEARLY forgotten? His solution was to offer to take it off the bill IF I had been charged for it, which I’ll never know because HE NEVER GAVE ME THE RECEIPT NOR DID HE EVER COME BACK TO LET ME KNOW IF I WAS CHARGED OR NOT. Oh and he offered to pack up leftovers for us as if that in anyway helps the situation. I wasn’t looking for money back, but this young man should NOT be a manager. Do better, owner who’s on the grill but can’t come out or at least give his manager a better arsenal to take care of your customers. The young man was never rude, but lacked basic customer...
Read moreI hate to post a bad review but we had our second terrible experience here this morning and talked to a manager, who did apologize for the experience, but did nothing to make it right. The food was good today and was good last time as well. But the service was absolutely terrible. We ordered a coffee and were brought a cup with barely anything in it with a promise that he would bring more once they made more. We sat here, got our food, ate, had to chase someone down for the check, and paid before ever getting anymore. I also never got a refill on sweet tea and was never checked on after they brought our food. When we left, we asked about being charged for the coffee where nothing was ever offered besides an apology and the guy saying his mind was “all over the place”. We then spoke with a manager who heard the story and responded with “I am going to defend him; None of us even knew we were going to work today.” Then proceeded to say that the guy had been here today longer than any of them. This was at 9:30 AM. The manager did apologize for the experience but never even offered to do anything to make it right. I understand that this is right after the Helene aftermath, but the establishment had power, had been open for a while, and had plenty of open tables. We saw people come in after us and get full coffee cups and at least 6 to-go coffees go out. We will...
