We have gone to Golden Dragon for probably 30 years. They recently closed and reopened as Golden Dragon Wok and Roll after remodeling. It was not the place I was used to. While the food was not horrible, it was VERY DIFFERENT from the restaurant I grew to love. For starters, the wonton soup no longer has strips of roast pork and greens. Instead, the wontons are stuffed with a ground pork and the soup is topped with shredded lettuce. Eggrolls were different. Fried rice used to have roast pork, now just peas and carrots. I asked if it was a new owner ans was told no, same owner. I asked why everything was so different and I was told that's how the cook is making it. They have a sushi bar so I got some sushi to go for my daughter at home. She said it was just okay. She loves raw tuna but did not care for theirs. I think part of what I liked about the old place was the nostalgia. I've been eating their food since I was a kid. We celebrated and had many family gatherings there. So when that bowl of wonton soups would come, I would remember those good times. That is lost with their remakes of the former food. I probably...
Read moreJust went to the new "Golden Dragon" in Mayfield Heights (only now it is known as The Golden Dragon Wok & Roll) and I have nothing good to say about it. After 40+ years in the city, they closed down for "remodeling" the beginning of April 2018. I was so excited they reopened only to be left very disappointed. Food and service are NOT the same! Took over 10 minutes for the waitress to ask for drinks. After getting a glass of warm water without ice, I had to ask for ice separately. Menu was exactly the same as before- but the food was absolutely bland without any of the old flavor or taste or VIBRANCE that was once the Golden Dragon. Won Ton soup was flavorless. I am so saddened by this. This restaurant used to be my go-to place for Chinese food- many memories going to lunch with my daughter over the last 7 years. No longer! They staff used to be so friendly and charismatic- I missed the older woman with such a fun, boisterous voice. And the one who knew exactly what my daughter and I would always order. They are no longer there. What a huge let down. If I could give 0...
Read morePretty good place! The beef lo mein was tender and flavorful, the vegtables were cooked but still had a little crunch, and the wonton soup was hot. The wonton soup container was also filled to the brim, so thankfully the container was air tight (no mess). They packed everything up nicely too. The crab roll was a little smaller than I thought, but the wasabi was amazing. The staff was also pretty friendly :)
The food came out in about 15 minutes! It seemed pretty busy since people were coming in and out, so the fact we only waited 15 minutes was nice. There was lots soy sauce packets and some fortune cookies too. It was cute!
The only thing that was a little strange was no napkins and only 1 set of chopsticks. Not a deal breaker though! We ate in the car and had a fork and some napkins, but I'm sure if we asked for some they'd be happy to help.
It's a little pricey, but for the good quality of the food I can understand why. Super excited to come back try some more! I'd also like to go when dine in is available since the whole place was...
