Babico's Cafe — Restaurant in Maynard

This place used to have excellent Customer Service , felt welcomed especially from Brazilian employees even when I came in on my own with a book didn’t treat me any different and even made conversation sometimes . Today was the exact opposite of feeling “ Welcomed”, the Host who asked if “ It was just me !” tried to make me sit in a back booth near the ( gross bathroom , even thought it was 1ish so it was very low key , crowd died down . I politely asked if I could have a seat by a window up front where I’ve always sat, she said “ No, need to save those for bigger groups that might come .”., it’s just you right ?”..asking me that once would of been enough . There were plenty of extra booths and I would have Moved for them like I always do. This was just an excuse to avoid putting me in the front of the Diner , and probably knew she would only get a Tip from one person.. but no excuse to make someone eating by themselves feel bad . One star because I can't leave a review without clicking on a star. This place doesn't even deserve ONE star. It is one of the WORST places I've ever been to. We walked in and sat ourselves. The server took a very long time to get to us. I ordered coffee and my kids the apple juice. Coffee is not exactly what I got. For what they charge I should've just gone to Starbucks for the "coffee". My sons reported the juice tasted funny. The food was disgusting. 2 eggs over easy with home fries and bacon was the blandest. The potatoes and bacon were both FRIED. The eggs tasted powdered. My youngest ordered chocolate chip pancakes, he didn't even want to finish it. That tells you enough about those..The other couldn't finish his omelette as well. A teenager that doesn't finish breakfast food is unheard of. And it's cash only, they have an ATM in there. It was horrible. How are they in business?? The man behind the counter was so very nice. I ordered a western omelet. I didn't want home fries or toast so asked for two extra eggs in my omelet. That was no problem at all. The omelet was done rather quickly, it was piping hot and delicious! I also got a side of bacon well done. That was perfect as well. I got a large tea to drink. The total was under $20. It is a small, quaint little place with the old fashioned tiles on the floor and walls, similar to the 1950s diners. It was larger than I expected, with about 12 booths that seated four, one small table for two and about 12 low seats at the counter. I will definitely go back!
