guy at the counter has a personality of a dead fish. food mediocre at best. dirty inside.
edit for response:
Hi Seymour's Deli,
Considering I didn't put much effort into the original review I will take the time now. To clarify, I’m not a food critic, as you suggested. I travel across the country for work and post honest reviews, many of which are four and five stars. I live in the Rio Grande Valley and had stopped by your deli after originally intending to get some ice cream at Joe's but figured I should order something of substance instead. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my experience, much like your response.
I ordered a roast beef and cheddar sandwich but accidentally said 'turkey beef and cheddar.' I am assuming you are the same person that took my order and will remember that. I quickly corrected myself, but the look of disgust I received from you after my minor mistake made me extremely uncomfortable. I was already having a long day, and this attitude only added to it, making me want to leave immediately. There were only two employees in the shop at the time (you and whomevermaking the food), and I wasn’t greeted or treated with any warmth or hospitality during my visit.
Additionally, I’ve posted my credit card transaction as proof of my visit since you seemed to doubt that I was even there last week.
I understand the challenges independent businesses face, as I have family who own businesses. When a customer posts a negative review, they go out of their way to correct the issue—perhaps by acknowledging mistakes and ensuring a welcoming environment. It would have been more constructive if you had addressed my experience directly rather than writing a defensive response that forces me to explain myself further. Your five-star reviews have no bearing on my willingness to try a place; I’m a free thinker and make my own determinations based on my personal experience.
I hope you’ll take this feedback into account and consider how small improvements in attitude and customer service could make a big difference for...
Read moreEDIT: The fact that the owner has been harassing me at my work place over a review about his daughter being unprofessional is crazy. He’s waiting outside of my workplace after closing and even parked outside waiting for me to come out and circles the parking lot. I was so scared I had to call the cops because I did not feel safe. I was going to take down the review but after this bullying I will not. No accountability from this place what’s so ever. I stand firm on my review. UNPROFESSIONAL OWNER..
I’ve never had a problem with this place until the owner hired his daughter. She’s so unprofessional. I have given her so many chances to redeem herself but every time I come in on my lunch she messes up my order. I waited close to an hour for one sandwich and they were serving their family. The next time i ordered food I tapped my card and waiting 40 min for her to tell me she didn’t charge me and had to charge me again. One time I went in and no one was at the front. I waited for 15min before I decided to call and she came running to pick up the phone then apologized saying she was watching videos in the back. Then my friend goes in to eat with me and lets me know that she was bad mouthing me to HIM. Not only did this happen one time but someone else makes me aware she’s asked about me and talked bad about me to someone ELSE. The food is mid and her attitude and unprofessionalism just made it worse. If you can avoid...
Read moreMy son and I ventured to Seymour's Deli located on 10 st. and the North side of Harvey in the strip mall. Once inside we ordered from the large menu on the wall. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich, a cup of broccoli cheese soup, chips, and a drink. My son ordered the Chicken Chipotle Sandwich, chips, and a drink. My Sandwich was served between freshly made dark rye bread. I know this because, I was willing to wait for to cool down enough to cut in half. Anyways, it was worth the wait, lots of Pastrami stacked with plenty of sour kraut, Swiss cheese, and a smear of Thousand Island dressing. I give the sandwich an A+ I only wish that a pickle spear was served or available to complete the true experience. I give the Broccoli soup flavor a moderate thumbs up, tho it was served piping hot, kudos on that. My son really liked his Sandwich. His came with sliced Chicken breast, Chipotle Mayo, Cheddar Cheese, lettuce, tomato, and black olives. Seymour's Deli, the Sandwiches were done perfectly, they were delicious, and definitely worth...
