I Googled the address cause I didn’t know the location or hours of business, I had read some reviews and wanted to try it. Opening time was 0730, didn’t state different holiday hrs. Day after Xmas I arrived & there was sign on door “open at 9”. I waited & went in at 9 and was told it was pick-up orders only. I could order “tomorrow”, opening at 0730. I went back next day & sign on door said “open @8”. I waited till 8 & bought 3 dz, different kinds, then ordered 6 dz “specialty” (added cranberry or jalapeño strips). Lady said they could do them and would be ready following day by 0730. I live in Weslaco, arrived following day before 0900. Different lady told me they were “just going to cook them, it’ll be ready at 0930.” I opted to come back at 9. Came back at 0940 and was told they were having problems with their cookers. I received my tamales at 10:30, lady gave me another excuse “I got the wrong cranberries and had to go back” & “it was short notice for specialty tamales”. I let her know they should have told me “yesterday” that they couldn’t do them. Tamales (pork, chicken, w/cranberries & jalapeños) were not very tasty. Masa was not tasty either. And I got fresh cranberries?? instead of dried cranberries. Not very much meat in them, jalapeños...

I do not understand why the reviews claim these tamales are delicious. First of all, the filling is literally pureed, I purchased the chicken and cheese dozen, the way the chicken was mushy takes away from the taste of the filling, there was hardlyany cream cheese. The maza was salty, and not fluffy enough for my taste. I ordered mine to go, but the place itself is small maybe 5 tables tops. I tried this place thinking the tamales would be better than old Delia's , with all honesty they both are overrated. I will not be trying this place again, but at least I was able to try it and review it myself. The front lady was courteous, but it seems like no one else is in the front to help...

I had order a dozen of chicken, and cream cheese and jalapeño 😍 SUPERR YUMMY my favorite is the cream cheese and jalapeños 💗 I will for ever enjoy Sonias Tamales 🫔 and her homemade salsa verda Her tamales 🫔 ain’t super oily as like Delias tamales honestly I appreciate how her tamales are less oily but so much better with more fillings portion 👍🏼👍🏼 than other businesses ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ five stars to her and her business 🙂 definitely will be placing orders with them for the future it was super easy called over the phone placed a order on voicemail and that day just did a pick up and I’m happy it was a quick and...

I had an amazing experience at Sonia's Tamales! We decided to try both the pork and chicken tamales, and they were bursting with incredible flavor. What impressed me the most was the minimal use of oil, which made the tamales feel light yet satisfying. The hot sauce provided the perfect balance of heat and flavor, enhancing the overall taste without overwhelming it. The owner's generosity in offering samples truly showcased their dedication to customer satisfaction. Sonia's Tamales is now my go-to place for delicious, well-prepared tamales that never disappoint. Highly recommended! DELIAS WATCH OUT!

Had seen someone post on social media so wanted to give it a try. First off all the tables were dirty , the self serve veggie and salsa area is a mess and empty , they only have 1 high chair in business. The ice is self serve so many hands in it and no one maintains cleanliness of it . As far as the food the menudo had a good flavor but was nothing but fat and meat no hominy . The barbacoa was mushy and foul smell nothing like seen in photos. The breakfast tacos are okay 3/10 tortillas are to hard. This is not a place we will visit again
