This is a two visit review of the North location, which I did to try other options. The first visit I went with my son. Once seated the salsas and chips arrive, we absolutely like this assortment of fresh made salsa varieties. Plus, there is one ramekin of refried beans to dip the chips in. The chips are always fresh which just adds to the delicious experience. We ordered our beverages and the choriqueso for $10.99. This is basically melted white cheese topped with chorizo served with flour or corn tortillas. The fun is definitely in the cheese pull and getting it into the tortilla. Needless to say my son and I are quite apt. I ordered a small seafood cocktail for $8.99 that was made with diced shrimp and octopus served in a slightly sweet, zesty tomato sauce. My son ordered the sincronizada, $14.99 which is a very large tortilla folded in half and filled with beef carnitas and cheese, additional accompaniments, guac, ( I have seen fresher) and sour cream are served on the side. My son really liked his oversized taco and I enjoyed mine as well. On my second visit I went with my wife. We skipped the appetizers, salsas arrived, fresh as always. My wife ordered a Coke from Mexico, I ordered tea as usual. For our entrees My wife ordered the Tacos Matamoros 14.99, corn tortillas covered in grilled fajita, Mexican cheese, and avocado. This plate is served with chunky mashed potatoes with American cheese mixed in and a side of beans. I ordered the fried Shrimp plate $ 17.99 it comes with salad, rice, and fries. I asked my server if I could switch out the rice for beans. I really did not want the rice, but somehow it still ended up on my plate. Plus, I had to wait for my beans , the ones that should be sitting where the rice was. I used a side plate to remove the rice before it got everywhere, so far this experience was not so good. Next, I noticed the shrimp were little shrimp (like 25 cnt) were butterflied and pressed to make them look bigger, that they were easily overcooked and curled up, they were also tough and chewy. The salad was water logged (stored in water) and not fresh. I tried my wife's potatoes. I have had the mashed potatoes before and really liked them. These potatoes were cold and had a refrigerator taste from improper storing. Lastly, our server never came back to check on us, probably for the better with all these complaints. In fact the lady who was at the door greeting and seating, came over and asked us if we wanted refills on our drinks because she noticed the empty glasses. My son and I talk Kissi Tacos up. I convinced my wife to try it for the first time and unfortunately it didn't go well. I like the shrimp tacos, I've had them several times, I would go back ( South location)for that and a cocktail. I don't think my wife will ever be...
Read moreTonight's culinary journey led us to Tacos Kissi on North 10th Street, a spot I was familiar with from my visit to their South 10th location years ago, where I had thoroughly enjoyed their seafood offerings. With a craving for seafood, I decided to explore their menu once more.
Our dining experience kicked off with a chip starter that left a favorable impression. The salsa selection, particularly the warm one, stood out for its delectable flavors. So much so, that we found ourselves ordering an additional round of chips, a testament to their irresistible nature.
Although seafood wasn't my wife's preference, she opted for the enchilada verdes. The dish proved to be satisfying and well-portioned, leaving her content. Meanwhile, my son's go-to choice was the Hamburger, a selection he dove into eagerly, leaving me without a taste to sample. My personal pick was the Mariscada for one, which brought back memories of a similar dish from a beloved seafood spot in Donna. While the portion included three shrimp and two delicate fish fillets, I found myself comparing it to the version in Donna that boasted four medium shrimp and two generously sized, thick fish fillets. While the dish was enjoyable, I did question whether it justified its $18.00 price point. A pleasant surprise came in the form of a side salad with a satisfying crunch and perfectly cooked rice. Beneath the shrimp (somewhat obscured in the picture) was a serving of cooked calamari and what I believe were scallops – a delightful addition.
Overall, our dining experience was delightful. Our waiter demonstrated attentiveness and provided valuable guidance with the menu. The restaurant's ambiance was pleasing, with multiple TVs adorning the walls and a sizable projected screen for viewing events, making it an ideal spot for catching a PPV match. We left with a positive impression, eager to return and explore other items...
Read moreThese people literally charged me for an order that I had told them to cancel. I ordered some tacos here on 12/23 and I go in and pay Abraham or Anthony I don't remember his name and he tells me my order will be right out. Then a waitress named Corina tells me they have ran out of tortillas (what Mexican restaurant runs out of tortillas first of all?) So I just winded up canceling the order and they tell me that they couldn't cancel it the same day but it will be canceled in a few days and take about 1-2 weeks to show up back in the card. I waited and nothing, so I called and I talked to a man named Isaac who told me I needed to go and show the receipt and they would credit me back. I live out of town and I couldn't just go back so my mom went ahead which he said was fine and they tell her they can't do it that they need the physical statement to see what was charged, when my mom had a picture of the receipt and the statement but nothing. Now I am having to go through my credit card company to dispute this charge because some idiot told me that my order was ready and it wasn't and they basically ran out of the one food item that makes a whole basic Mexican restaurant and I just wanted a simple...
