As a business owner I understand the importance of reviews and after reading a few previous reviews i felt compelled to provide my honest review without staying anonymous so you know it is real. It’s a bit long but comprehensive!
For context: My family including kids eat West Indies food specifically Roti, doubles, chowmein weekly in fact we travel often thus have dined at almost every roti shop in Georgia, Atlanta , and dined at some of the best in Guyana , Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname.
This is my 4th visit, Today I decided to write a review as feedback which I hope can be received as positive and honest and more importantly to encourage others to give it a try.
First, the atmosphere is awesome, I love the floors , the artwork and the music vibe was great! The place was clean and provided a good atmosphere that welcomes you with the smell of curry. Nostalgic, Love it!
Second, the service was good (island standard) the lady was polite and friendly, she did seem “defensive, on edge”. I didn’t think much of it because customer “caribbean customers “ 😜 my people can be difficult and demanding at times so I remained friendly and polite. The guy was professional and intentional about providing good service. It was appreciated!
Third: price /quantity , look cost of food is high across the board so I understand they have to recoup their cost . But if we compare to other roti shops in the area (powers , scenic, willow ) won’t mentioned other name to remain respectful they are average $6 more and the portion size are lunch size compare to their competitors . $18 for a roti is almost oxtail price, the average worker won’t be able to afford that and get a ginger or sorrel.
My suggestion here is to provide lunch options 11-3 Pm under $12 and maybe max 4 pieces of meat and heavy on the potato’s and peas to stay within margins.
Also, making a customer pay before the food is prepared is a result of one or two things. 1. Customer don’t anticipate the high price point and have had some challenges at check out. Business owner maybe aware of their price point and want minimize refunds or walkouts.
So providing the option of lunch size vs full size while making the food could trigger the customer review the menu and price which is clearly stated and give them the options to decide their price point and expectation.
Food : the roti curry is good , seasoned well especially when fresh , the buss up shut was not my most flavorful one (i give grace because I have tried some of the best in Tobago , Suriname and Guyana) but to the chef more butter when prepping to increase shelf life or keep a hot pan ready to touch up before order especially when traffic is permissible.
I did have to return a chowmein which my kids were excited about but they delt with it professionally , refunded me and were very understanding in knowing that it didn’t meet their usual quality standard.
It’s important to mentioned that my previous two /three times I came for lunch brought some friends and the roti was amazing , delicious and fresh so I would probably give them a try again in the future because sometimes you don’t get it right and supporting small business is the key to us growing our community together .
So I implore you to give them a try , get the chicken roti if this is your first time and come in with great expectation as your experience may be as great as my first two , three times. When you do.. please write a review so we can continue to support Caribbean Roti shop.
In closing , I would have preferred to state this review to this amazing family directly in person especially as we dined in to avoid adding a review online so I hope to encourage them to engage more with their customers even if it’s uncomfortable to ensure quality experience. While responding to reviews online is great for SEO customers satisfaction is the lifeblood of your business so take the feedback implement ways to improve and meet their expectation because in the end they make or brake your business.

Read moreIf I could give lower i would,Customer service is important and I’m Trinidadian so I have thick skin.I went in to give this place a try since I was new to the area. While I was ordering my food my autistic son tried to run behind the counter, as I ran to get him the owner ran out and said “you need to get in control of you child running back here man” I apologized and explained to him that he is autistic.as I was voicing my fustrations to the work he came back out and said if something was to happen I would sue him.I explained to him that I wouldn’t do that if I’m expressing he as a disability. The place rubbed me the wrong way after that and the roti was crap
Update:In response to the reply left my the owner.Right message, wrong delivery.Customer service is a major part of running a business, especially if your food isn’t very good. There was no understanding or apologies from you end.You never know who you may be judging or mistreating and what doors that person may open or close for you.And to lie, I constantly called their names until I bet your staff knew and when he ran to the side I went after him.To blame my children for the tone of an establishment when I spoke to the two other customers that was in the establishment( because I stayed in the parking Lot long after to make sure I leave a review). While I was speaking to the woman the owner stood in the doorway, I said well you can come have a conversation with me instead of standing there. He then said I don’t have to come talk to you and I said well you can go back to what you were doing. He then replied I don’t have to I’m the owner.I’m not liar. The only way I knew he was the owner was because of this back and forth because before I thought he had to be the cook due to the lack of professional .I took the time out my day to warn others because I never leave reviews but no one should enter an establishment and be treated as such. You can tell your character from the replies you have left with the low score reviews.Y’all want a real Roti and better customer service please go to the roti shop on convington hwy.I don’t need your well wishes, yall will need more than I do.Talking about your only concern being...
Read moreFirst time I came it was a cool young gentleman there that had proper customer service and I was the only one there.. just today 9/20/2024 I went again with expectations of similar service but this time it was two females one young andnold one in back, and soon I asked a question young one rolled her eyes at me on some other ish, paid no mind.. paid extra for some oxtails..overpriced me than what buddy did for me last time.. and gave me way less and I paid more for..u know what if it's two females that's in there be wary of they service cuz they was rude as hell and ill never go back.. only reason I gave them 2 stars cuz of them 2 females being rude and trying to take my money and giving me less than what I asked for. If u see them in there leave immediately and wait another day. Food good but they made it disgusting for me cuz of their service.. just them 2 rude chick's in there.. they royally pissed me off today frfr.
To reply to their response she never greeted me, she had a attitude seem like all day, I'm a customer, yall gave a small portion of the entre but piled up my plate with a whole bunch of rice, I asked for extra sauce and extra meat, yall gave a half teaspoon of it, and charged extra for a normal plate it seems to me, and I wasn't insulting the pastry I was wondering if it was suppose to be that dry due to the fact it has cheese in it, i wasn't insulting nothing, her attitude and the experience was terrible this time, and I shower daily so that could've been your underarms u was smelling knowing you probably don't wear deodorant as is. So have better attitudes period.. when u get done with the renovation make sure yall attitudes match the design hopefully for the better. Point blank period yall was rude and I expressed how disappointed I was. true enough profanity came with it because yall attitudes was horrible towards me. I could've had a bad day and wanted some food and chose yall of all restaurants and you just disappointed me this time. The other guy was cool and had no issues and i asked him the same thing the last time i came. Maybe yall should get some lessons from him how to...
