This restaurant really surprised us. We were expected a typical âChipotleâ style fast food place and found it to be a relaxing and good sit down experience.
The service started out as usual with chips and salsa. I liked that they give each person their own salsa dish. The chips were not salty as many are and seemed freshly made. The salsa had a good taste and spice to it and was not overly hot or spicy (well mixed). Water and drink orders were promptly taken.
That gave me to check out the bar which I will be going back to for some tasty tequila (properly served) and relaxing. I liked the vibe.
Food orders finally as family was not familiar with the menu. The wait staff was very patient and helpful in suggesting items and we gave the table side guacamole a go. My wife and son are pretty critical of someone elseâs guac but the âguac guyâ (table side comment by a young girl) did an excellent job and it was very good. Some chunks which we like but also he asked how spicy, salty, etc during the process. Even suggesting a little more jalapeĂąo. Yes! Bring the easy heat!
Our meal was brought out quickly but not too fast after ordering. The pace was good for a place like this. We had a feeling already before our meal that weâd be back. We had a mix of food plates and items so family taste test of quesadillas (good sized portion ample meat, not too cheesy), shrimp grilled and wrapped in bacon (very very good) and of course the item all judge a Mexican fare place by... tacos. The tacos were very good, not the best I have had but taco ratings are highly subjective. They past the test and had ample protein as well as fixings, and a good crunch and soft tortilla was not too hot or cold. I would recommend what we had to anyone and the menu had more to offer. I liked the menu was not too busy and felt the restaurant focused on what was in their wheelhouse and chefâs plan.
We are going back. Will it replace or typical Mexican food location? No but It for sure will add to it. We like the family small locations, and Anamiaâs will be our local sit down have a drink and some tapas and a good meal as well as sit in the bar sipping tequila and small plates.
Nice to find a chain that feels local and comfortable with a good menu, good staff,...

One of my favorite restaurants is Annamiaâs in Prosper. Last night, a friend and I dined at Annamiaâs in McKinney and had a fantastic experience enjoying their outdoor patio. The ambiance outside was inviting, with a cozy and relaxing vibe, perfect for enjoying a meal on a pleasant evening.
I ordered the Salmon Parilla, and it was a delightful dish and one I order every time! The salmon was perfectly grilledâcrispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The seasoning was well-balanced, enhancing the natural flavors of the fish. Accompanying the salmon was a YucatĂĄn slaw, which provided a refreshing, tangy contrast to the rich fish. The slaw had just the right amount of crunch and zest, adding complexity to the plate without overpowering the main attraction.
The dish also came with grilled vegetables, which were charred beautifully, offering a smoky flavor that paired excellently with the salmon. The vegetables were cooked to the right texture, maintaining a bit of bite without being too soft. Overall, the combination of the salmon, slaw, and vegetables made for a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
My friend ordered the tropical salad, which was ample! She opted for the grilled chicken in the side. The chicken had a really nice char and a great flavor.
There is indoor and outdoor seating available, and a small bar. I liked the painting selections on the wall and the decor that they went with. I liked the nod to Frida like the Prosper location.
Sitting on the patio elevated the experience even further. The outdoor seating was comfortable, and the atmosphere was lively yet relaxed. It's a great spot for both a casual dinner and a special night out. If youâre in McKinney and looking for a place that serves delicious food in a pleasant environment, I highly recommend Annamiaâsâespecially if you're a fan of fresh, flavorful salmon...
Read moreWell I finally went to Anamia's, which I had been anxiously anticipating, since McKinney really doesn't have a wide variety of choices for Mexican food choices in restaurants, since I moved here from Dallas. Well as they say in marketing, people usually remember what happens at the beginning and at the end. The beginning is what I remembered. The host, Josh or could be Jason - mid 40's, caucasian, definitely stuck on his looks and proud of it as one could tell with the attitude we received from him, just set the mood of how we were greeted at the door. Not sure if this manager, because he did identify himself as a manager, seemed out of his element or maybe he was stuck too much on his looks just set the tone of how you felt welcomed at this establishment. Another negative element & one of many McKinney establishments is that Anamia's closes so prematurely early, when it's plainly obvious this place offers a nice alternative from the other limited choices in this area. Plus, if you are doing well and packing them in the door (patrons), why not maximize your profits and give the community what they want by extending your hours for example on Thu, Fri, & Sat nights and staying open till midnight - instead of treating your community as if they are on curfew - so typical of the other businesses in McKinney and other rural communities that have set these hours and force others having to travel and go to further places such as Frisco, Plano, and even Dallas. And hopefully by now you have gotten a friendlier, warmer & more welcoming host/hostess, than who we encountered that 1st time we went. Here's...
