We decided to try Asian Buffet in McKinney, TX, and honestly… big mistake 😬. Right off the bat, the food was cold, which is never a good sign at a buffet. ❄️🍽️ If I’m paying $17 a person plus $2.50 per drink, I expect hot, fresh food, not something that feels like it’s been sitting out for an eternity.
🥢 The Food: • Hot & Sour Soup 🥣 – One spoonful in my mouth and shivers ran down my spine till my tailbone barked. It was that bad. The flavor was just off 🤢. • Crab Rangoon 🦀 – Thick, weird-tasting, and not at all like what you’d expect. One bite and I was questioning life choices. • Dumplings 🥟 – Decent, but the sauce was so thick it could have doubled as wallpaper paste. Not the usual dumpling sauce you’d get at most Asian restaurants. • Broccoli Beef 🥦🥩 – The beef was thick, chewy, and subpar. Pretty much the lowest-tier meat you can imagine. • Orange Chicken 🍊🍗 – It was there, but they completely missed having Sesame Chicken, which is an absolute must at any Asian buffet. How do you not have Sesame Chicken?! 🤨 • Banana Pudding 🍌🍮 – Instead of using vanilla pudding (so the bananas could naturally flavor it), they went full artificial banana-flavored pudding. Hard pass. • Chocolate Fountain 🍫 – If this was supposed to be a treat, it felt more like a trick 🎃. The chocolate was super bitter, definitely not Hershey’s—more like budget-brand disappointment. • Almond Cookies 🍪 – These never miss at an Asian buffet… except they did. Stale and lifeless.
🥢 The Experience: Now, I will say they had some eclectic choices—things like hot sticky buns 🥠 and Asian dumplings. But then they threw in random foods like hot tamales, roast beef, pizza, and chicken nuggets 🍕🍗🌮. I get that buffets try to cater to everyone, but this was just weird.
And if you’re a fan of crab legs, well, surprise! Here, they serve the whole crab—head, legs, brain, and all 🦀😳. People may expect crab at a buffet, but I don’t often enjoy my food staring back at me 👀.
The atmosphere? 🏚️👃 Odd smell in the air, and absolutely no music 🎶🚫—just silence aside from people talking and the occasional clinking of plates. Not exactly the authentic Asian dining experience you’d hope for.
🥢 Final Verdict: ❌ I’m probably never coming back. Between the cold food, weird flavors, strange atmosphere, and high price tag, there’s just no reason to return. If you’re craving a good Asian buffet, keep...
Read moreThis buffet is better than any buffet I have experienced in quite a while. The sushi, fish, shrimp, and calamari are good. There were several styles of chicken, such as on a stick, house, and orange. They were good, too. The vegetables were cooked perfectly on all of the dishes that I tried out. The sauces were cooked in the food, not just thrown on top as an afterthought. The food was good, I would go back for sure. There were plenty of dessert choices and bread choices, too. The service was good. Plates were taken away in a timely manner. The drinks were refilled several times. The cleanliness of the buffet area was impeccable. Some food was on the floor in places here and there but was promptly cleaned up by the staff when noticed. Some labels were not placed on the buffet glass to tell you what food item it was called. However, the food items were separated into sections by the type of item. Example- vegetables, dessert, etc. There is a Mongolian option to pick out your own raw food, and it will be cooked there quickly. A buzzer was given, so you knew your food order was ready to pick up. This was one option, which was an addition to the already great buffet. The restrooms were clean. The atmosphere was pleasant and well decorated. I almost forgot to say the place is kid-friendly with chicken nuggets, French fries, pizza, a chocolate fountain, and ice cream, too. I highly recommend you to go eat at this twenty-dollar buffet if you have the money to spend and want a great meal. That was the approximate cost for the weekend dinner duffet, a drink, and tax. Make sure to enjoy your fortune cookie and tip...
Read moreWe’ve visited this Asian buffet in McKinney many times and usually had a decent experience, but unfortunately, this visit was by far the worst we’ve ever had in terms of service.
When we arrived, the front door staff attempted to seat us right by the entrance. We politely asked for a booth instead. One was available but hadn’t been cleaned yet. A staff member near the front (wearing glasses) spoke in Chinese to a tall male server, asking him to clean the booth and take care of our table—which seemed fine at first.
Unfortunately, the experience quickly went downhill. The tall server brought one drink to the table and then disappeared. When we asked for a high chair for our 2-year-old son, he rudely told us to get it ourselves from the front. That response was completely unprofessional. He didn’t clean the table properly, didn’t offer additional drinks, and never introduced himself as our server.
Frustrated, I went to the front desk to complain, but the staff tried to defend him, claiming he wasn’t our server—even though he had brought the drink and was clearly assigned to our table. They dismissed our concerns and refused to address his behavior. As we were leaving, we saw him casually chatting and laughing with the front desk staff, as if nothing had happened. No one apologized, and they seemed completely unconcerned about the poor service we received.
This experience was incredibly disappointing, especially given our history of positive visits. We sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and provides better training, as this kind of service is completely...
