In my opinion, Mr. Garner is one of the most negligent and damaging attorneys I have ever encountered. He barely spent any time preparing for my mediation — I have a recording proving he didn’t even give it a full minute. He didn’t notify me about my termination trial until 5 days before it happened, and then failed to file a motion for new trial within the 75-day statutory deadline. I wasn’t told about my right to appeal until after the appeal deadline passed.

He didn’t raise basic constitutional arguments in a case that permanently severed my parental rights. He even admitted that he relied on out-of-court communications with a CASA supervisor — someone who wasn’t even in the case record — to determine how to handle my case. That supervisor’s alleged stance on termination was not reflected anywhere in official CPS records.

Instead of fighting for me, Mr. Garner consistently blocked me, failed to advocate for my rights, and ultimately blamed me for the outcome that he failed to prevent.

He showed no basic human decency, no fight, no integrity — only delay, silence, and neglect. The damage he caused in my life is permanent. He doesn’t understand the trauma he’s inflicted, and worse, he doesn’t care.

If you are considering working with Mr. Garner, I strongly urge you to record every interaction, get every communication in writing, and do not trust him to protect your rights. He enabled misconduct and, in my experience, became part of it.

THE WORST attorney I ever experienced!!! RUN!!! He was hired to do a simple child custody case & took a high retainer fee ($3,500) and did NOTHING! My son & I did ALL the work! Lon actually made EVERY SINGLE SITUATION WORSE!!!! All talk and no action. Drug out the case over a year because of errors HE MADE. (((Sometimes not showing up for court time, not filing important papers that are commonly needed to proceed, not following up on things, won't return most calls or texts for days and weeks, disconnected, did not care))). We FIRED him because of his LACK of ethical dealing. Sometimes he outright LIED TO US. He kept a flash drive of evidence & would not return it. WE HAVE PROOF. Would not give all our money back. Still has $1,500 for doing NOTHING!!! After firing him, we still had a final court date preset & were going to fight on our own. After all WE did all the work. Unbeknownst by us... our court date got rescheduled by Lon (or judge) & he did not have the DECENCY to notify us. So, when we showed up for our court date we found out the hard way no one was there!!! Who does that??? Lon is very knowledgeable and skilled attorney. He helped me with my case and he really does an excellent job! If you are looking for someone who will help you and who generally cares about their clients, then he is the man for the job. He has years of experience and has had a ton of successful cases.
