My wife and I checked into the Wyndham Hotel in McKinney Texas, after waiting roughly 10 minutes at the front counter for someone to show up and assist us. Once we got into the room, it took us less than 5 minutes to decide that there was absolutely no way we would be staying there. First and foremost, the air conditioner was broken; the knobs and switches that control the unit were either broken or missing altogether. In addition, the restroom had clearly not been cleaned properly, it was so loud, due to the proximity to the freeway, that there was no way we would be able to sleep there without earplugs, and the bed had what I can best explain as a diaper underneath the fitted sheet, most likely to keep bed bugs either in or out. Lastly, our “smoke free” room had cigarette burns on the air conditioning unit, blanket, desk and telephone. After making the decision to leave I politely told the front desk attendant that we wouldn’t be staying there, and asked her to please refund our reservation, to which she said “ok”.
That weekend we had events to attend that required us to be on site very early both Saturday and Sunday, and return late in the evening on Friday and Saturday. Originally, we made the choice to stay in a local hotel since we live about an hours drive to the site, instead we ended up having to make the trip six times rather than two, on a road that anyone local would describe as “scary” or “really dangerous” at best, especially at night.
Once I saw the charge on my statement I called the hotel to get the charge refunded, and they told me I needed to call hotels.com (Travelocity). Then I called hotels.com to request a refund, and the customer service representative told me I had to call the hotel to get it refunded, which was incredibly frustrating. After, speaking to a supervisor at hotels.com, I was told that an employee of hotels.com would contact The Wyndham to negotiate the refund. About a week later, hotels.com sent me an email to inform me that they had come to an agreement with the hotel to refund only half of our original charge. This is unacceptable and this whole ordeal has been a huge waste of my time.
I’ve never once felt the need to leave a hotel because I was as dissatisfied as I was at the Wyndham in McKinney. I think that only refunding us for one night when we were there for less than five minutes is pretty unethical, and properly reflects the The Wyndham’s vision of customer satisfaction based on what I’ve...
Read moreI will say management are very rude and all employees & management need to be replaced. Immediately. I rented a room for several days. I noticed in my room that was missing and went & requested what I needed. It was a microwave. Asking Saturday night & was told I would get one the next morning. When I approached the front desk to see why we still have no microwave. They stated that they have placed an order, but they won't receive them til Tuesday. NOW know it was Sunday night. Not every room is rented so go take one out of another room. They told us no, they said we will have to go downstairs and use the one in the lobby. They didn't care and told us they would not get me another one. I will have to use the one in the lobby. This was around 730pm. I felt no one else is having to do this so neither am I. I paid for this room and on the website it states every room has a microwave. So I called Corporate bc they didn't care to help there customer. As soon as corporate contacted management. I received a call from management "THREATING ME TELLING ME SINCE I CALLED CORPORATE. I CAN CHECK OUT THE NEXT MORNING." THEN HE HUNG UP IN MY FACE. saying he's going to loose his job. All you had to do was get me one from an unrented room. So I called Corporate back. Reporting the threat. Then hours later at 1100pm. A manager knocked on my door. Came in and put the microwave on the edge of the bed, as he said he's going to loose his job. Next morning went down starts, the lady manager asked me what happen as she continue to cut me off and didn't care what I had to say. She lied and said the manager took the microwave at 11 pm outside my door. That was a lie. He laid it on the edge of my bed. So after she was so rude to me. I walked off then returned and asked her if I could get her business card. She stated why so you can call corporate on me. I finally had lost it due to the rudeness from each an everyone of these managers. I said what you just said was rude and I won't put up with it anymore. This is all over a damn microwave and you all are so lazy u do all this over a microwave but knock on my door at 11pm at night on a Sunday night. You bet I'm reporting everyone of you before I leave. Since ur happy I check out tomorrow as you stated. So watch , how you don't treat your customer. You 3 are HORRIBLE MANAGERS & NEED TO...
Read moreI would like to state that this review isn't about the property itself, but the customer service. My fiancé, our dog and I have arrived around 11:00 p.m. June 11, 2023. Of course, I paid the extra pet fee as I like to abide by the rules therefore avoiding future misunderstandings. Checking in went well, but as the next day approached I was eventually interrupted by one of the employees who not only came knocking recklessly, but assuming as well as demanding for me to pay for my dog. I totally comprehend confusion and errors occur. Eventually, I decided to stay another day. It is currently June 12, 2023. I have found out I have already been charged for another day and if I would like to add another, hypothetically I would pay for three even though I will only be staying for two. It is about to be 11:00 p.m. as I am writing. Technically, being a full day since I have arrived. If I plan on leaving tomorrow, "June 13, 2023 at the end of the day, does it make sense to pay for three days/extra dog fee (per day)? If yes, I would have appreciate the communication before being charge and pressed to pay. Any other than that, I will not deny that the property is well kept, it is constantly being clean as I have witnessed throughout my short stay. All equipment such as beds, showers, toilets, tv, microwave, refrigerator, lights all serve their purpose and work properly and accordingly. I cannot comment on the area as I have just arrived from California to to Texas. Wi-Fi is decently rapid, and the establishment overall appears to be in well condition for what it is. It isn't a castle, no fancy breakfast, but for what it is worth it definitely does serve it's purpose. The bad service is tolerable as it can be ignored and I would love to stay another day, but unfortunately the math does not add up....
